Hmmmm....really? After all that??? Oh, well, I had fun trying to come up with title suggestions. I always thought a self-titled album was a good idea anyway, to get away from the whole Rockstar Marty Casey thing.
Maybe Mtv doesn't know what they are talking about, anyway. I'll wait to believe it 100% when I hear it from the Lovehammers themselves.
Thanks for the link! It's cool that they were mentioned in the article!

Thanks for the links radioclash and XSivelyHammered. Well... how simple of a title was that... Marty Casey and the Lovehammers!... lol. duh!! I'm guessing the boys would come out better going this route, becomes Marty's name is so recognizable and marketable right now. Can't wait for the LH debut album, it's going to be awesome.

Maybe they'll use some of the suggestions for future albums. Don't give up hope y'all!
But, wouldn't a "self-titled" album be Lovehammers, not Marty Casey AND Lovehammers. Hmmmm

I don't think that they are saying the album is Marty Casey and Lovehammers. I think the sentence is meant to read/mean: The Lovehammers, Rock Star: INXS" runner-up Marty Casey's band, will release their self-titled debut album on January 24, featuring the single "Trees."
Modified to update this: So I was wrong. Based on the full press release and not just a summary of it, they literally are calling the band on the new cd Marty Casey and Lovehammers. But this does make sense given how many millions of people saw Marty on Rock Star and now know and recognize him.

January 24th seems like an eternity... glad to have some confirmation though. Self-titled CD? Why didn't I think of that?!

A great radio station in So Cal is on line www.indie1031.fm you can listen and request songs on line and they might be prone to playing Lovehammers. During the show they were one of the few stations that played very early INXS and they were pivotal in breaking the Killers and Snow Patrol...the minute Trees comes out I'm bombarding them...

Left a message reminding them, gets back from Jamaica, Lovehammers CD will be released around Jan 18 and I would like to hear "Trees"

Check out the LH site: www.lovehammers.com/Major Label Debut...but no name! Those guys are such teases. I'm still holding out hope for "Penny on My Mind." Never mind... the site does confirm it will be self-titled.

I just read on the "Marty Casey" Myspace blog that it is self titled : "Marty Casey and the Lovehammers". I kinda wonder if that was purely a label decision. Is it true?

EPIC PRESS RELEASE « Thread Started on Today at 7:06pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 5, 2005
MARTY CASEY & LOVEHAMMERS TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED DEBUT
FAN FAVORITE FROM ROCK STAR: INXS SERIES TO RELEASE MAJOR LABEL DEBUT IN JANUARY
ALBUM TO FEATURE CASEY’S MEGA-POPULAR HIT “TREES”
Marty Casey & Lovehammers, longtime favorites on Chicago rock scene, recently amassed a few million new fans thanks to lead singer Marty Casey’s remarkable run on this summer’s hit television show Rock Star: INXS. Over the course of the series, Casey’s electrifying performances made him a fan favorite, and his hook-happy single, “Trees,” was a No. 1 download on MSN.com. On January 24th, the band will give fans an amped-up version of “Trees” and other exciting new tracks with the release of their major label debut, MARTY CASEY & LOVEHAMMERS.
Marty Casey & Lovehammers will be performing these songs as the opening act on INXS’ highly anticipated “Switched On” tour, which launches January 18th at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC.
“Talk about starting the year off right,” laughs Casey. “January sees us releasing our first album and hitting the road as part of a major tour. That pretty much takes care of my entire Christmas wish list.”
Casey founded Lovehammers (rounded out by guitarist Billy Sawilchik, bassist Dino Kourelis and drummer Bobby Kourelis) when he was 14. Over the course of the past several years, the quartet has opened for Nickelback, Jerry Cantrell, Interpol, New Found Glory, and most recently, Cake and Gomez on a 21-city tour. In 2004, their DVD Live/Raw debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard DVD chart.

This is also from the lh brd, from Dino:
Dudes,
We liked so many album titles, and wanted to use a few - we had the artwork ideas ready to go and everything. Turns out that we have to use Marty's name in the title for reasons beyond our control for this album, but don't sweat it - the music is still the same, and we are still Lovehammers.
We will get everyone's ideas for the next album!!!!!

I was a teensy bit bummed because after having all the creative energy flowing around here I was expecting something else, but it is totally understandable and logical to have it be self-titled.
Now the other question is - What's the Cover Art? ;D
What's up with the Epic site? I don't understand why the press release isn't up on their news section.

I e-mailed Epic the other day asking them where the heck was the info on the LHs? They replied that they are very sorry and that I can have backstage passes for life.
Um, I may have made the part up about them replying.
