Hey Marty, People are calling today Radiohead day in light of their decision as a band to release their new album 'In Rainbows' not only without a label (formerly with capitol records), but also exclusively on-line in downloadable format only. In addition, they are allowing the fans themselves to set the price for the record with the thought that good music will sell itself. It has people in the industry buzzing and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is now hinting that they may follow Radioheads example. They will also be doing a traditional CD release early next year. I was wondering what YOU thought of this concept and also if you may ever foresee something like this in LH's future? Rock On!

Radiohead and NIN are HUGE bands that can get away with releasing albums with no promo. Bands have been doing what Radiohead did for decades. Giving away free music. LH gave the first two or three records away to anybody that would listen also.
It is possible to release on-line without a label. What smaller bands need though is promotion to let people know it's out there. In order to sell a couple of 100 thousand record you need to promote and that takes alot fo money, human-power, time and energy.
Radiohead and NIN are an example that works for huge bands. But they are still releasing the album in the traditional way come January.
