Music is my son's LIFE (youtube.com - search sawyer and cameron, look for reasons for splitting) -- he writes (first love), sings, plays guitar, drums etc etc--

How can we direct him in a positive, influential way....he is 15.

Somehow believe he would listen to another musician as opposed to his momma.

Tell him to listen to as much music as possible. Whatever type speaks to him.
Tell him to starting trying to write every day and record it on his Garageband or Pro-tools rig.
In one year he will be really hitting stride and probably have his first record ready to go.
Encourage him by picking out a part or lyric that you like in the song. Positive reinforcement.
Oh yea, and be completely honest with his lyrics. People connect when they know it's real.
