Mr. Casey, Coming across this site refreshed my memory of the show, your performances, and why I thought you stood out. The one male I would have voted for if I had voted at all. Not only did you display great talent, it didn't make me queasy watching you perform. Like a few that tried to seduce the cameras with bedroom eyes and forced sensuality. I thought it was refreshing to see a rocker that wasn't heavily pierced, permanently painted and remained clothed. A professionally composed competitor that seemed at home, natural. What struck me most was the demeanor you possessed during the critiques. I don't remember any snide comments or back talk. The pressure of the situation must have been immense for you, yet you remained so respectful. Was there ever tounge biting moments for you? Ever a time you wanted to defend your creative choices that may have been judged in ways you didn't expect? How did that wicked force I saw perform remain so solemn?

I was willing to listen to critiques from INXS because we were trying to fill a role that they needed in the band. The show was a 15 week long on the job interview.
I would hear what they had to say and decide if that was information I wanted to subscribe to or if I thought it was outside of who I was as a performer. I never took the time to hear what anyone had to say about my performance style. That usually tends to water it down and make it vanilla. I knew who I was walking on the stage and if they didn't like it I would just have to accept that. They did have some great words of wisdome: believe in your voice and stop hiding behind your manic energy. I took that to heart. I loved getting to stand and deliver for a few of the performances.
Thanks for all of YOUR kind words. Those I most surely take to heart cpayne...
Marty
