It's a pretty small place...same place LH played last summer...but it hold way more than 30 people. That is a shame. Yeah... But sometimes, I almost think its harder to fill those small places. Does that make sense? Yeah, probably because there's less promotion.

Well, that and I think smaller venues=more local scene. A lot of people won't turn out for an out of town band unless they know the style/a local band is playing with them.

The Basement holds 350 people. When Joe opened for LH it was pretty full. Don't know what the deal was with the lack of crowd. They recently remodeled the upstairs and now there is a stage up there as well. And they had some band, Lovesick Radio or something, that was playing for free. Yes, I did get to talk to Joe for a bit. He actually sat down right next to me to watch the opening act.

I remember going to see an artist named Chris Whitley in the early 90's i guess. His album was doing pretty well on college radio, and he played a club here. Toad the Wet Sprocket opened, and they were starting to get kinda big. I wanted to see both bands. Anyway Anyhoodle, probably 3/4 of the crowd left after Toad played. It was soooo uncomfortable.

I also almost bumped in to him as he was coming out of the bathroom. I felt slightly silly seeing him leave the loo.

I hate that kind of behavior more than I hate empty venues. You paid to see the band/person, you might as well stay and watch...

Eeek! And 'anyhoodle', Chris Whitley sounds familiar, I'll have to check him out. I just don't get why people leave shows. Yeah, I did it for INXS. But that was different.

Even if you don't know their stuff, give it a try...maybe you'll like it.

I'm going to make anyhoodle the next big catch word...with the help of my minion, Mr. Kade "Where the hell are my keys?"

I mean, it is their business and all. In my experience, most smaller venues leave it up to the bands to promote. I don't know how most venues work, but the place I went to, the owner Derek always split the door charge evenly between him and the bands, so the bands had an incentive to fill the venue to capacity.

I had Chris Whitley's first cd, but I kind of lost track of him after that. I heard he died of lung cancer not too long ago.

And do you mean, did I see any of the LH while INXS was playing? No, I didn't. But I did talk to Jeremy then. Honestly, we had to leave the venue b/c some other fans were following/harassing us.
