GE, What are you doing for NYE? We never have plans until that day. I can't decide... stay home with the kiddies and bang pots and pans at midnight or go out and get my groove on We'll see... both have their benefits... Are you going to the ball? Sounds like Cinderella

2008: The Year of the Hammer and don't you forget it! Safe travels for all of you heading to Chicago for NYE. I think you better plan on dressing warm...or at least take a jacket.

Hi Cheza! I'm loving the sound of 2008!! I'm just getting ready to move some furniture around in my home office - it's not very functional. Therefore, I'm not very functional. Time to shape up for the new year!!

Yeah, I'm allegedly cleaning my home office right now. I need a bigger bookcase in here and I've got a new desk to put together...when I can get it cleaned up in here.

I've got a massive 'to-do' list, some things have been on there for years. I didn't go back to Montreal to see my family at Christmas. I haven't even finished my shopping. I'm supposed to go at New Year's, but now I feel like staying home to get my life in order. I've done absolutely nothing for the past 5 days - haven't even gone out of the house. I've been sleeping a lot. Hibernating? Hiding? Avoiding? Definitely the last one. When things get bogged down and I get overwhelmed, then I shut down. I know it's one thing at a time - one day at a time. So tonight I've decided to fix the office. Oh, and I still have 'work' work to do - by the 31st (my deadline). How do I get myself into these pickles???

Same way I do...by putting stuff off until it piles up so that you don't know where to start, perhaps?
I have to go back to work Thursday and I'm not ready.

I'm going to have to make myself get back with it. If I don't chat with you before NYE - let's agree to have a fantastic 2008, okay?

Same way I do...by putting stuff off until it piles up so that you don't know where to start, perhaps? I have to go back to work Thursday and I'm not ready. Don't know where to start. Exactly. Everything seems equally urgent. Classes start on Jan 7. I still have to finish those 2 papers. I don't think they have to be finished before Jan 7, but it would be a good idea to get them out of the way before the term starts. I'd better call my friend in Toronto tonight. I told him I'd come and visit before 2007 was over. Not likely. We used to see each other and talk every day and now the whole year has gone by and I haven't seen him. We used to work together and practically lived together after I left my marriage. In fact, I wanted to be with him, but a few months after my dream came true, I realized that we weren't so compatible after all. We're still good friends, which is cool. What kind of stuff do you have to do before Thursday. Class plans? I assume you've finished your marking...

What kind of stuff do you have to do before Thursday. Class plans? I assume you've finished your marking... I thankfully don't have a whole lot of "work" work to do before Thursday. The sophomores will be starting the MLA research paper project...so I'm going to use Thursday and Friday to explain that...they have to do it on their own time. Then I can start Shakespeare our first full week back. As for the seventh graders, we have to finish the chapter on basic sentence parts, but we also have to prepare to spell down for the annual spelling bee. My work to be done is here at home. Tons of laundry (which I have to do in short spells because I hang up everything of mine to dry and I quickly run out of places to hang things..I really need to invest in some outdoor clotheslines or somit)...the office needs to be straightened up, so the piles of books in the living room can move to their proper home...the whole house really could use a good spring cleaning in the winter...the usual stuff...mainly decluttering because I'm a huge pack rat. Tonight alone in one room I've found programs from plays when I was in high school (I graduated 16 years ago), play scripts for shows I was in with the theatre group in Paragould post college, tons of Relay For Life supplies that were in boxes and need to be given proper homes, old newspaper articles (written about me or by me), things students gave to me at my first school, Anime soundtracks I thought were lost forever, tons of things to burn or shred, and a bag full of office supplies that I had purchased for use at my previous job...they were bagged up when I quit, brought home, and that was the end of the story. So, on the bright side, I have a bunch of new highlighters and paper clips to take to school on Thursday. My pack rat nature makes me even more disorganized than I would be if I didn't hoard things due to sentimentality. Therefore, a purge is in order. I do this from time to time, but it always seems no matter how many big trash bags I throw out...the stuff still overwhelms me. *sigh* It'll be okay though. It always is. I just want to get everything in order so badly. My office somehow has ended up the de facto "storage room" for everything else...large boxes are taking up most of the floor space, my poor (semi-wood) file cabinet is getting scratched up in the process of things being scooted around, and I just want to scream sometimes when I come in. It's getting better, but I want my space back. I'm reclaiming it...hopefully by the end of the week (if not before I go back to work) I'll have this room organized, my new desk and new computer in here, and only piles of books and no boxes in the floor. Then I'll get the bookcases I need and everything will be copacetic.
