I attended the Seattle concert on Thursday, January 19th, to see both Marty and J.D., but mostly J.D. as he is my man. But, I must say here that Marty and his Lovehammers were an excellent front band for INXS. I was not familiar with most of the songs sung by Marty as for the most part they were songs from his new cd. For me, his version of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire was just outstanding and it had big crowd participation. He sang through the middle of the audience up the walkway and slapped hands along the way. I was in the third row right in the middle and I was one to get my hand slapped. I must say that Marty was Marty and he did not disappoint in any regards. He was electric, fasinating, handsome all in black, riviting, on and on. He did end with Trees which the audience loved and sang along. I was sorry when he ended, by my watch after 50 minutes on steady. I was really hoping for a song or two from Rockstar, but no luck. Maybe he needs the House Band to sing those songs???
It wasn't long before J.D. and INXS were up and playing Suicide Blonde. J.D. was also all in black. They sang a lot of the old catalogue and mixed in some of the songs from SWITCH, such as Pretty Vegas, Devil's Party, Afterglow, and Hungry. J.D. put his everything into his performance. In singing the old INXS song "Taste It" to me it was very sensual J.D. singing to the mike as a lover to put it blunt. Every song was filled with his awesome moves that thrilled all the females in the audience. INXS ended up singing 16 songs and 3 more for the encore. It was nice here that most of the songs were familiar and the audience was able to sing along. My favorites were Pretty Vegas, Mysifty, Disappear, and Don't Change. His version of Don't Change was just almost as good as Marty's version on Rockstar. I don't think anyone can sing Don't Change better than Marty, including Michael Hutchince (only my opinion). INXS took about 2 hours and by the time they were done, I was tired of standing the whole time and my feet were killing me, but I had just experienced the concert of my lifetime!!!

Barbara
We really appreciate your post telling us about your enjoyment of the show, since you are primarily a JD fan and you certainly were under no obligation to come over here and tell us about how much you enjoyed Marty and Lovehammers show.
I think the concert is a big win-win for both sets of fans, and thank you for bridging the divide some by posting this. I know you have posted some before, so it isn't like you haven't visited us before. This was a nice balanced post and I enjoyed reading it...both paragraphs.

Thanks for posting that barbara123! It was nice to hear that you enjoyed the LH's even though you were there to see INXS. That is all we can hope for - is to expand LH's fan base through this tour. Its nice that you can be so objective. Right on about "Don't Change"!

Glad you enjoyed both bands! I am an obvious Marty fan but I sincerely wish both bands have great success going forward...and it sounds like both Marty and JD are giving 110% for their respective parts of the concert....your review was reflective of that and very respectful....well done!

Barbara, Thank you for such a wonderful review of both bands, and I agree with your comments on "Don't Change"! (Maybe they should just give him that song? ) I encourage you to pick up a copy of the Lovehammers' new CD, coming out on the 24th. It is called "Marty Casey & Lovehammers". (They will return to just Lovehammers on later albums.) I think you will really enjoy it, and if/when they come back through your area later this year, you will know those songs then! Rock on!

Thanks to all here that replied to my thread. I wish each of you going to the concert an experience such as mine was. I'll definitely check into Marty's new cd, and thanks for the suggestion. I still sing in my head Marty's version of Burning Ring Of Fire. It was quite a surprise of a song for him, and my favorite from his performances that night. I'm waiting to hear from the gals that went to the two concerts at Lincoln City, Oregon. Imagine, two nights!!! Lucky them....

as i'm rocking to the new cd, i am really happy that rs:inxs turned out like it did -- best of both worlds, & i think barbara's review speaks to that. i think jd is roit for inxs, & good for them to enjoy success again -- marty had a lot of respect for the band & jd, so hammerheads should wish them well. i'm grateful the tour is bringing marty to my neighborhood -- & i hope they'll be headlining their own tour soon! man, i would love to see the hammers do ring of fire! not to mention any other song.....
