I'm going on the 13th-can't wait. I just saw they are going to be headlining at CBGBs on the 14th. Wish I was going to that one-not that I'm complaining but I already know 45 Min won't be long enough. And yes...I would die to meet Marty too !

Long Island girl:
I'm going to the concert on the 12th. I finally got a sitter lined up and confirmed so I'm siked but now that I found out that they're playing at CBCG on the 14th and I could never do both concerts - I'm bummed.
I too am dying to meet Marty. Will we have to stalk him at the buses? I've never seen a rock concert at Lincoln Center, a symphony but never a rock concert. Any game plans? I'd be happy to stand in the lobby during the INXS set but my hubby was a fan of early INXS and will want to see them.
I used to be a Long Island girl too for awhile but we've re-located and will have to drive 5 hours to see this concert. We'll probably stay on Long Island in a hotel so I can catch up on some shopping at Roosevelt Field and Fortunoffs.
What's the name of Billyismycopilot on this site? She may have an idea.

Wendy - You are so lucky to get to go to CBCG. It'll be packed with nothing but Hammerheads. I'm so envious.
Now I must meet him. I just feel like such a dork. I used to be (what I thought) was a sophisticated career women in NYC and now I'm this stay at home Mom with a Tiger Beat crush on MC. Yeah, MC not only stands for Marty Casey but in my case also stands for Midlife Crisis. I need someone to give me the courage to not chicken out on going up to him.

Won't he be surprised to know that this "craze" will last a very long time, if not forever...oh yeah, says he is tired of hearing nothing but Lovehammers music for the past couple of months...then I showed him the new CD and told him he was going to have to wait a while until I get done with playing this "new" CD. I know what you mean about finding the courage to look him in those hypnotizing eyes of his....but that is what all the other Marty fans who will be standing right next to you will encourage you to do!!!!!!! go for it!!!!!!

Hi vstreamer, we all must hook up at CBGB's! I remember you said you were going on the 12th, too.
Do all of you have wristbands? I'm sending for some.
Yeah, MC = Midlife Crisis. But what a way to go!!!

I can't pull off a babysitter, hotel room, hubby taking another day off for the CBCG concert. If I knew in advance and got tickets two days in a row than it would have worked out. I do have my wristband which my daughter (9 years old) loves to make fun of. Maybe we could hook up in the lobby or something.
By the way the CBCG concert is on Valentine's day! Now that's a real V-day gift! That's also a place where one could conjure up lots of courage to talk to any of the Lovehammers. I'm so jealous and want full accounts on Feb 15th.
Hey Yak your hubby's gotta ;ove the new twinkle in your eye. It'll be a great V-day evening for you. This trip to NYC will be the first trip my hubby & I are going without kids since we spent the night in the hospital having our 2 year old. It'll be so fun. We're getting a nice hotel room and plan on making it a real romantic weekend. Whooohoooo.

He has to go back to Pittsburgh but I am staying a day later to attend the CBGB show....I REALLY don't mind spending Valentine's Day with Marty and the boys. I will sacrifice time with my husband and **cough**pretend Marty is my husband...of course, just for that 1 night...heh heh. Besides, my husband does not like Lovehammer music and is NOT going with me on Monday night either. I am going with a girlfriend who used to live here, but now lives in Queens.....but to be honest...I have his complete permission to share the Marty love on Valentine's day!!!!!

I'm going on the 13th. My husband has backed out (he thinks I'm crazy obcessed-which of course I am) & I'm still frantically scrambling for someone else to go with me. My husband has also dared me to have Marty sign my boobs. Now I am determined to meet Marty but not sure if I have the guts to go that far. Maybe 10 years ago-or maybe after 10 drinks. I don't know. But if anyone here wants to to help me win the dare, I will probably need a huge kick in the pants, or someone to clean up the drool & remind me how to speak english again. Not sure I'll be able to do much of anything but stare once I get close to him.

I bought a ticket today so I *think* I'm going...have to work out a few logistics, but I so want to see them at CBGBs...I've always wanted to go there and to see LH there would be the icing on the cake!! Not to mention spending V-day with 4 hot musicians If anyone has suggestions for hotels, PM me! I already know that area is not the best, so anywhere within taxi distance is cool...thanks!!!

Brennak, I need hotel info myself for Tuesday night. I am in a hotel for monday night but it's $200 per night and I cannot afford 2 nights at that price. If we stay at the same hotel/motel, do you want to share a cab to/from the CBGB concert? Keep in touch, let me know where you will be staying Tuesday night and I will pass on any recommendations that I may get for where to stay, etc.

I'm going to look at hotels tonight if possible and get some suggestions together so I'll pass them on.

a friend of mine once stayed in this hotel, i think he paid around $80-100 per night:
Howard Johnson's 135 East Houston Street Forsyth and Allen New York City, NY, 10002 US 212-358-8844
it's really close to cbgb's too.
i also want to say that, having lived in the area, and now living uptown, it's really not that dangeorus around there. it may look a little seedy, but ironically, there is some super-expensive real estate in the neighborhood. thus the reason cbgb's is closing.
as long as you use common sense you're fine. these days, there are very few places in manhattan that are as dangerous as it used to be-- mostly because there's usually a lot of people around at any given moment. just don't walk down deserted streets and you will be fine! just my experience.

Good to know the CBGB area is not as dangerous as once thought.

brennak, I agree with radiocure's advice. The entire city is much busier and safer (and more expensive) than ever. Neighborhoods like the lower east side are buzzing all the time now, and the hotel on East Houston will be fine.

I just bought my tickets for the CBGB show. I'm excited, now I just gotta get some of my friends to go with me. I told one of my friends that I'm going to NY to see MC and he says I'm officially a groupie if I'm going across the country to see MC. lol! I haven't been this excited about a band since my NKOTB days. LMAO!

I'm posting this here, too ... yakkettyyak suggested in the other ("New Shows") thread that we all meet up for dinner before the CBGB show. So far, Brennak has said she's interested. Anyone else? There are tons of places to eat (and drink, if you're so inclined ... lol) right near the club. It would be a blast to meet everyone and go over there together!
