What a great combination that would be!!! I worked at Sony Europe for 5 years in England and I would be surprised to see one of Sony's talents touring with Bon Jovi who is signed with Universal/Island Records. But then again anything is possible!!

I actually heard it from a friend of Marty's, I went to highschool with him back in the day. Could be a rumor but Doc McGhee did manage Bon Jovi for a long time so maybe he hooked them up??

Hammered - you might have the scoop of the week! Like you said Doc McGhee did manage Bon Jovi for a long time so the trust would be there. Very interesting, hope it happens!

That would be awesome - but who would open? ? LOL We have tix to see Bon Jovi on the 25th - almost one month to the day after seeing Marty and the boys. Bon Jovi and the Lovehammers together would be more than one could bear, I think... ...but I'd sure like to try.

BTW - now that I remember, Marty got a message on his cellphone to call Doc McGhee when we (polarfan, 4reeds, treejay and I ) met them after their set at San Manuel, but he couldn't get a signal to get out and asked the other guys several times if they could get a signal to return his call. Maybe it about this very topic...oh, but then again, probably not...

That would be horrible! Bon Jovi is laughable and generic, suburban middle-of-the-road rock music and the worst part of 80's and 90's music. No offense intended. INXS alone blows BJ out of the water with their back catalogue and has done far more interesting musically then Bon Jovi could ever dream of.
If Marty and his Lovehammers want to stay fresh they should not be linked with some bad, non-progressive and dull American ex-hair-metal band. I mean they toured with Nickelback ( they're horribly generic too) already ( and huge) and this didnt do much for them. This tour with INXS is giving them enough exposure already and at least its with a band that plays decent music. Marty himself does not like bands like Bon Jovi, Van Halen or the likes but prefers the more progressive and more challenging bands such as the incomparable Radiohead ( now that would be a band worth opening up for!), Interpol , Franz Ferdinand , The Killers and even the most amazing and influential musician of all-time David Bowie. ( even though he is nearly 60 he has continued to push the envelope like no one else in his age group for example compared to Paul McCartney, The Who and the likes).

OMG!!! You had the courage to say just what I was thinking. Bon Jovi is part of the reason I turned away from rock back in the 80's and then only turned back with alternative rock in the 90's. Big hair arena rock was just so horrible. That's why I turned to new wave and enjoyed INXS back in the day. The INXS tour is a great start for the Lovehammers. I do agree that they would be better suited for a more progressive band. If they played with the Killers than I'd have to turn into a groupie and follow them everywhere. Actually Marty's performance of Mr. Brightside got me to by their album. No Fuss is another (like LH's new CD) album that you can play and enjoy all the way through.
As far as Bon Jovi, I have to admit I like their stuff to listen too a few times but then I tire of them really fast. I'm glad Marty didn't win but I wonder what he had in mind when he had the sit down with INXS and told them he could help them go into a new direction. I wonder what direction they would will go into? Does anyine recall what new music the boys like to listen too now?

What happened to the idea of them headlining their own summer tour?

Big hair arena rock was just so horrible. That's why I turned to new wave and enjoyed INXS back in the day. The INXS tour is a great start for the Lovehammers. I do agree that they would be better suited for a more progressive band. Exactly! I had written out something similar to what aphexvancouver wrote, but then decided against posting it. Sorry.. No offense to Bon Jovi fans. It seems like his fans want for him to go into two different directions. Because he was on RS: INXS, some fans want to turn him into the next poster boy like Sean Cassidy. I'd like to see them go back to what they did on MOMM and not go in the direction of Casualty. Again, no offense to fans of Casualty. That Mitch Allan guy is pushing the band into Nickelback and Bon Jovi territory when I'd love to see the band go back the other way to a more progressive sound. Another thing that I'd love to see for the Lovehammers to do is expirement a bit. Marty himself said that he admires what Beck does. What Beck does is experiment and he changes. That's why Kurt Cobain was such a fan of REM and even asked for Michael Stipe's advice at one point before his death. Kurt Cobain loved the fact that REM evolved and changed from album to album. Kurt was so worried about not bringing something new to the table for his consecutive albums. Anyway... I hate writing anything that could be conceived as negative because I'm really rooting for these guys to succeed. Like many of you, I learned about Marty from the tv show, but what drew me to the Lovehammers was their work on MOMM. If they hadn't had that album, I woudn't be here on this forum right now.

I can't really say that Bon Jovi does much for me personally either. But if the rumor is true, it does give LH the chance to go overseas and get tons of exposure to new international audiences. It's always a matter of weighing the pros and cons of each situation and probably none of the choices that our boys face are cut and dried and easily made at this point.

I have to agree with most of you on this - I wouldn't personally go see Bon Jovi but as Lesley says this would be huge exposure as the venues would be 30,000+ and Europe gets a different crowd than we do in North America. They really support and go crazy for anything new ( I lived overseas for 8 years and saw it 1st hand) I don't see INXS getting the large venues, if LH was to continue with them but again this is only my opinion.

I think I heard something about Van Halen def. saying no. I think Dave N. also said something like this.
As far as opening for Bon Jovi goes, I think it would give them tremendous exposure in Europe.
Marty did say that the new album was a combo of where they've been, where they are now and where they are going. If that's the case, then I'd say Casualty falls into the latter category.
The guys haved worked extremely hard and it's great that they've gotten this break. They need to achieve some commercial success if they are to reap the rewards of this. I think they can do this without compromising their artistic integrity. The current album has many songs that I can see as playing on only modern rock stations (such as KROQ here in L.A.), for example, Straight as an Arrow. Others have a much broader "crossover" appeal. Those are the ones that will play to a wider audience and will have the corresponding videos getting airplay (would love to see them climb that Top 20 every week). Besides Trees, I can see Hold On, Clouds and others falling into this category. I agree with many fellow hammerheads that there are lots of potential hit singles on this album. It is that kind of content that will sustain sales toward a platinum album and Grammy nods. Best New Artist would be great. I remember the year that The Eagles won that award.
That is just MHO.

Agree with you on this part aphexvancouver, yet there is more to the information to be discussed just like what all individuals have contributed to your reply. Enjoy Nickeback, Bon Jovi, 54-40 Canadian bands kick a** just like Rock N Roll all over the world. IMO With the David Bowie Well I see Marty & Lovehammers stepping up to the plate when there is time to Breath In and focus. Marty & Lovehammers being progressive about their music All the Faith in the World Love what you had to say xsiveone

It's great to see a fresh opinion and I agree about the BJ/INXS back catalogue, but "decent" music is very subjective. Rock music didn't just happen, it has evolved and what was relevant 5, 10 or 15 years ago won't necessarily be so 10 years from now. But if you enjoy it now, chances are you will in the future on some level. Thank God music is so diverse and so accessible for us all - we're very lucky.... The Lovehammers will headline their own world concerts very soon...they need no comparison or link. They are a breath of fresh air that will stay current, and still touch many. I think Marty will see to that.

Marty has such talent I can see him going in two different directions: "performance artist" or "rock star" ... he really is a shapeshifter. I don't see where associating himself with Bon Jovi does anything for him artistically. It gets him Bon Jovi's audience, not his own. I know he and his manager will make whatever decision they think is best for LH, but I would really like to see them (and Marty especially) stretch themselves.
