There are some really great comments about MCLH over at the INXS boards! I hope they don't mind if I copy some over here:
From a fan's Phila show review --
I thought Marty and the Lovehammers did a great job!! I liked them a lot better during this concert than in Vegas. Maybe it had something to do with being up close… or maybe they’re just getting better after being on tour for awhile now… but I enjoyed their performance a lot. Marty touched my hands a few times, the right side guitar player (who kept smiling at me… I think he got a kick out of my hyperness) pointed right at me as to say, “Hey, I’m playing this solo guitar part just for you” (which was really cool) and the left side guitar player came around to my side and threw me a guitar pic! Way cool! (Too bad the drummer was stuck in his seat! He’s hot!! LOL) I sort of felt bad for them though. Most of the right side, the first several rows anyway, sat through almost all of the Lovehammers. A few of us stood, but not many and it made me feel bad. The left side fans were mostly on their feet though… so that’s good.
And from the show in DC:
Lovehammers came out and tore into their set. Once again a force of driving energy directed to a lame-ass DC crowd. DC audiences are notorious for sucking the life out of a show (especially the openers). To wit: the Garbage video for Sex Is Not The Enemy was filmed at the 9:30 Club here. Check the crowd when her top gets ripped off. They are dead! Anyhoo, Marty (looking a little wan) came out into the audience during The Tunnel, I believe, and finally everyone jumped to their feet. A special treat: Jeremy, their Robert Smith-haired t-shirt guy, is quite an accomplished guitarist. He played with Dino and Billy on This Town, which was recently added to the setlist. Well done!
So even some INXS fans recognize that the crowds have been dead.
