Thanks for the information, Isa. Looking at the SXSW site it's a little confusing trying to figure out what's available to the general public who might just want to see a few bands but doesn't want to attend all the seminars, etc.

The first few days are like a regular seminar, then the music starts with musicians from around the world performing. Click on the link on the front page of the site, then click on the "Music" link at the top of that page. It says last year there were musicians playing on over 50 stages each night. The hard part will be finding our guys in the crowd. It will be a mega boost for the LHs. And SURELY, as they come down IH35 from Chicago, they will stop some places on the way to serenade us!!!?? Be still my heart....

Being from ND I'm unsure what this festival is. Is it a good thing for the LH to be there? Will it get them exposure? Anybody know?

From the brochure on the website the music portion of the festival begins on 3/15 thru 3/19, but there is no schedule yet. Apparently today was their registration deadline so it will probably take them sometime to set a schedule. I'd love to go to SXSW! If we get some more details, maybe I can swing it. lol!

Hey guys,
the way this works is badges are available for music industry people (or anyone else) for around $550. Badges allow you to go to all of the music events there including the concerts.
If you don't have a badge, you can buy a wristband. Those will go on sale usually a month before the music fest starts. They usually go for around $130. The wristband allows you to go to any venue that is have the actual concert type shows only. I believe they even include the major shows too (like The Pretenders are playing Friday night.) Wristbands normally sale out within hours of going on sale. You can also buy a wristband on the day of your registration to the festival IF you are a badge holder. (I think they make this provision for people traveling with their significant others so they don't have to pay the full price for a badge.)
Right before the concerts starts at every venue, you can purchase a ticket to the show. Prices start at $20 and go way up depending on the act.
I may also add, almost every hotel has been booked solid since December. I made my reservations in September of last year and had to book a more expensive hotel because all the cheap ones were booked up. (but who cares, my work is paying for it..LOL)
Also, I am told that the city is absolutely crazy this time of the year. I am really looking forward to the show. I'll def bring back a review!
Peace!

3 ways of going to the SXSW:(the gist) Not exactly for sure on the prices but am very close. Saw different prices. 1. Purchase Badge $525 on up - attend Everything available for all the days and a loaded tote bag - first ones to enter venue 2. Purchase Wristband - $115-130 limit two per person must be purchased at Waterloo Records in Austin, TX, no online or reserve here, able to attend all music venues but enter after badge holders. They will sell the first 2000 wristbands at the lower end price range and then the next 1000 wristbands will be slightly higher. 3. Purchase ticket at door of Club that you want to enter - $10-20 a person but these enter last depending on occupancy of venue.
there will be 3 separate lines at the venues.
I have joined the text message thing for SXSW and will receive text messages on my cell for updates on SXSW.
I believe the sale of the wristbands starts Feb. 23 or 24th. The sale of the Badges have started since September. Individual tickets at the door of the venue.

I was pretty sure this was designed more for the industry than just fans going to shows. So your report and all will be great! I really appreciate you keeping us updated on it. And take pictures if you can and I will be happy to post your report and photos on the site!.

Being from ND I'm unsure what this festival is. Is it a good thing for the LH to be there? Will it get them exposure? Anybody know? From what I understand it is good exposure for the LH to the "industry" people. Like maybe some record company would see them there and want to sign them and actually do things to promote the band. Then they could have the 'street cred' of having played the SXSW. That is just based on what I have read about other bands that have played there. In any event, it has to be good for all of the Texas fans who have been so patiently waiting for their hammers! ;D

Well, Lh is already signed to a record company -- Epic. It might, however, open a lot of doors for them for getting airplay and getting added to a great tour. I would love to see Lh touring with someone who better fits their style of music. We might actually see a Lh video some day. We're talking about a Street Team campaign for SxSW, if any of you are interested in helping out, check out this thread.

check out this... 2006.sxsw.com/music/showcases/date/2006-03-18.htmlLooks like lh will be playing at Buffalo Billards on Saturday wtih time to be announced later. I called the venue and they said they have a 300 person capacity for the area where the stage will be set up. He thinks that LH will take the stage around 1 am-ish and play for about an hour. Of course this is subject to change. I asked him whether or not he had worked sxsw before and he said that at one of the last shows of the night there were only 75 people. The first show of the night is at 8 and we can go and stay for all the shows. We can buy tickets at the door as long as there is room. He suggested getting there at midnight...but he is just some guy that works at the venue. I will call back when the show is closer. Texas hammerheads get ready!

Oh, I know, I imagine all the TX Hammerheads would fill it up! lol Although, not being able to get tickets (just for that show) until the night of the show, may hinder some Hammerheads from going. If we have some great Street Teamers working the festival, I know they can get people in there!

I totally understand out-of-towners being concerned about getting into the show since there is no guarantee at all! I thought that the Virgin thing was stressful but this takes the cake on that one. I mean I live in Texas and will just be driving to Austin but I am not even sure that I will get into the show. I am working on figuring out my plan of action on street teaming...please let me know if you are planning on attending so we can start working together on it.
