Heads up Hammerheads!

Many kind MC.org Hammerheads have offered to buy, exchange, and send CD's of LH to other Hammerheads living outside North America and vice-versa. This is so great. Just make sure that the CD's you're sending are store-bought (COPYRIGHTED).

If you're sending downloaded CD's, make sure that you have PAID for the downloaded songs and not through pirated methods. In addition, provide "paper" evidence that you paid to download the songs. Include it when you mail the CD. Moreover, make sure you register mail or use a reputable courier service when sending mail to developing countries. I'm sorry to say that if you don't--your Hammerhead friend will never receive his or her package. Crap, eh?


If you don't do the above, you will get yourself in deep shit and the person your sending the CDs too. Here's a story of a Filipino guy who bought a bunch of pirated CDs while vacationing in the Philippines to save money: Sure he paid only around $1.50 US for 1 CD. Guess what happened? When flew home to Seattle a few months ago, he was caught by customs with the pirated CDs!!!! He was heavily fined and got deported back to the Philippines. The ultimate punishment was that he absolutely lost his immigration status and is FOREVER BANNED IN COMING INTO THE US.

Another story, not about CD's. This Filipina lady bought
an imitation pair of sunglasses on the sidewalk somewhere in the US. I don't know how she was spotted wearing a fake but she was fined $3,000 US dollars.

Anyway, I just wanna make sure that nobody goes through this NIGHTMARE

hmmmm. here I am living in the piracy capital of the world --where we can literally get any movie, cd or designer bag anytime -- and I have to say that I agree with the principle. Don't send anything you haven't paid for. That beign said, it really isn't difficult to send/receive cds or anything else for that matter. I have not heard of a single case of anyone needing to provide receipts/proof of purchase.
Of course, anyone with less than upstanding intentions can always find what they want on the internet. Let's just say, Respect the artists who make the music and don't infringe copyrights.

Philippines is another Piracy Capital. The stories above are real. I just don't think it's worth the trouble to bring in pirated material to save a few bucks. Look at what happened to the guy who did it. Of course, when you travel, you have to declare what you bought. Especially in the US, they are so strict with everything now. Yes, Respect the Artists! Respect yourself.
