Hi, everyone! First let me say that I had a great time last night, it was great to get glammed-up and go out with the hubby. However, I was disappointed because there was no meet-and-greet, and I did NOT get to meet Marty. However, I did meet one of the other men...more about that later. Anyway, before the show, we met my brother-in-law and his wife and two of their friends at a bar to grab some drinks and food. (We were starving) We had some wierd little crab cakes with melted cheese on them. I forced a couple down, but my hubby was teasing me about talking to Marty with "crab breath." Turns out I didn't have to worry about that : ( We were running late and got into the theatre a minute after the show started. (note that they started exactly on time.) Marty was already slinking out to Ultrasound. Did I mention that I had second-row seats--YEAH BABY! My sis-in-law's friends had 2 extra second-row tickets, and I got to sit with her while the hubbies sat in the back. (I switched back for INXS) It was awesome, we were right in front of Dino and had a great view of everyone.
Okay, here are my impressions of the show: Marty looked tired but magnificent. He made me think of a lion, with his golden mane of hair, his wild, intense eyes and the way he prowls around the stage, crouches, and jumps. I LOVE the way that man moves; he is so graceful, and the way he moves his hands is so expressive and mesmerizing. He is like a performance artist; he really does own the stage and it's hard to take your eyes off of him. His voice sounded fantastic, I had read that sometimes the band overpowers him but it's not true. His voice was clear, powerful and true. I love the way he gives his whole heart and soul into his singing. That's what drew me to him on the show, and it's very apparent in his live performance. The rest of the band sounded good as well. It was very loud. Of course, my sister-in-law (Leslie) and I were standing for almost the entire show and rocking out. She kept yelling things into my ear, that girl notices EVERYTHING. Some of her comments about Marty: "He's so cute, he's so hot, his pants couldn't be any lower, he has no body fat, he has great abs, etc." LOL Same things we all say. Alot of people were standing (in front, at least), and the crowd seemed to be into the band, except for a few bored-looking INXS fans who just sat there with pained expressions.
Anyway, to continue: At one point, Marty jumped off the stage like he always does and ran up the aisle, of course ending up right next to my hubby (and where I would have been. I KNEW that would happen) The whole crowd roared and stood up when he did that, and Leslie and I stood on our seats so we could see. It was very cool. I saw some lady run up and touch his arm, she had this stupid grin on her face like a kid afterwards. LOL So they did the usual songs, the Cash song and Trees, then he took off his shirt and they did This Town--wild! Jeremy joined them on stage for that one. Oh yeah, I forgot to say he talked a bit during the set, something about feeling that the crowd was "special" (couldn't hear him too good), and that because the place was so small they couldn't do the meet-and-greet (BOO!) So, the set was done, too soon, like everyone says. We all went outside and I bought a couple of t-shirts from Jeremy. O yeah, I forgot to tell about my outfit for the show. I wore a black tank top and I ironed-on the word "LOVEHAMMERS" in rhinestones across the top front, to go with my rhinestone-studded jeans and accessories. It came out really good. I wore a crochet black shrug (or whatever you call it) over it part of the time (It's quite warm down here in FL)
Sorry if this is rambling, I'm trying to get this down as fast as I can because my Mom is interrupting me alot.
(She's staying with me for 3 weeks)
Anyway, interesting observation about the differences between men and women: We were all hanging out in the lobby talking about Marty. The men were saying things like "He's anorexic-looking" and "He's gaunt," and the women were saying things like, "He has great abs." Hee hee, I think the men were a tad jealous.
So. INXZ starts and I begin my MCLH hunt. I walked up and down, nothing, finally I went outside out front. I felt a little funny being all alone and there were all these men hanging out front. Anyway, I spot a familiar silhouette down the street. No, not Marty, but Dino, and Bobby was there too. I passed by Bobby, because he was surrounded by women. Dino just had one lady fan with himso I stopped and waited. She soon left, and I was standing there alone with him. I got an attack of nerves and my knees were actually shaking a little--wierd! So, I shook his hand and introduced myself. He said, "I'm Dino" and I said "I know." I asked whether they were able to see Jacksonville at all (I knew they had arrived the day before) He said no, that they went to some bar the night before and got drunk and slept all day LOL, maybe that explains why Marty was looking a little rough? I asked about his hand and he showed it to me, I said, it doesn't seem to affect his playing he said, oh it does, I said I didn't notice. (my hubby said later I might have insulted him by saying that, oh well) Sorry, I'm not caring about punctuation and shit at htis point. Lots of typos too, but I am under stress here! So I ask about the rest of the tour, he said they don't know what they're doing after this leg of the tour ends, but they have some offers, etc. He said the band would like to do small venues, but they just don't know. So, we ended by me saying I hope they come back and play in town, he said would you come, I said, Of course. He then kind of beckoned me to him and drew me in for a hug, then we parted wys. I think I may have goten two hugs, but its a bit of a blur. Dino has a flirty, sexy way of looking and talking to you that flusters you a little. I was about the same height as he was in my platforms. He had on spicy cologne that I kept smelling on me afterwards. I never did speak to Bobby, he was too busy with others. O yeah, Dino liked my shirt and said he noticed me in the crowd rocking out, he pointed in the direction that I was sitting so I would know he wasn;t kidding me. That made me feel good, cos Marty was in the zone and didn't seem to focus on anyone, except a few people right up on the stage. So I found the bus and looked into it through the front window (the bus driver was staring at me like I was mad). No Marty or Billy. After the show we joined some other fans waiting outside the bus, I met one other lady with an MC.org bracelet on who said she had met Marty before the show--lucky her! We couldn't hang around long, so I don't know if the boys ever came back out. So, that was it...I had a great time and I'm ready to do it all over again!
