You may have heard that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently adjusted its total ban on liquids, gels, and aerosols, and we wanted to make sure you were aware of what these changes are!
Effective September 26, 2006, you'll now be allowed to carry travel-size toiletries (3 oz. or less) that fit comfortably in ONE quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag through security checkpoints. As you travel, you'll be asked to remove the zip-top bag of liquids from your carryon bag and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt so that it will be x-rayed separately and allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the items.
Also effective September 26, 2006, you may have the following items, but you'll need to declare them to the TSA at the security checkpoint if not contained in a clear, transparent, resealable, 1 quart (1 liter) size, plastic bag and/or are over 3 oz. (90ml):
Baby formula/milk (to include breast milk) and baby food in containers if a baby or small child is traveling
Medications (liquid, gel, and aerosol)
Liquids (to include juice) or gels for diabetic or other medical needs
Want to purchase your toiletries at the airport instead? You are now able to bring onboard the aircraft liquids, gels, and/or aerosols purchased beyond the security checkpoint.
Electronic items (including notebook computers, MP3 players, PDAs, etc.), and solid cosmetics as well as personal hygiene items (such as lipstick, solid deodorant, lip balm, and items of similar consistency) will continue to be allowed through the security checkpoint.
We want the time you spend with us to be easy and enjoyable, so we encourage you to visit the TSA's web site for more information and to pack appropriately before traveling. And remember, if you're not sure whether an item will be allowed past the security checkpoint, it's probably best to travel without it.
