We had an awesome time at the concert! I had to laugh when Marty was talking about 'trying to give us our money's worth' because we had all paid soooo much for the tickets. For us, and many others I'm sure the ticket price was a small part of the cost. We came from Canada and our total cost to attend the concert: $3300....and it was [glow=red,2,300]WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE![/glow] The show was amazing. The crowd was amazing. The beauty of Marty was amazing Chicago itelf was amazing (everyone we ran into was super nice ). If I can figure out how to download the picture I took from my digital camera, I'll post them. For now I'll just enjoy the happy after-glow of the concert.

I love the pictures!!!! I wrote up a rather long review of the show and thought I would would share it here! I had such a great time this weekend, and I loved meeting all of you! My favorite song from the Live/Raw Dvd is Give It Up. It is the "Gonna get me...not gonna get" stuff that Marty sings in the middle of the song. I don't know exactly what it is that I love about that, but I find the energy of the whole band very intoxicating. When I heard those first guitar strains at the show, naturally I squealed "Oh my god!!!!!!!!!" then I wondered if they would do the "gonna get me..." stuff. What I got has changed my life forever. In the middle of the song, the band gets real quiet, signifying Marty was going to climb or do something really cool. As they keep a steady rhythm, he begins to weave a tale about a recurring dream. Talking with someone but not being able to focus on them because of the bad mojo that is churning around in a tornado in the distance. And it was like a train coming closer...'chug - chug - chug' he says in beat with his bandmates, keeping the four of them together in this reality he is creating. As the tale grew, I stood mesmerized. At that moment, in that place, nothing else mattered except the reality of that story. I didn't know where I was going, but I was ready to follow. The story concludes with a figure coming out from the tornado speaking "will she ever - give it up" and we are brought back into the Metro and into a rock concert. I dig! I dig! I mean, who does this at a rock show? This was ritual performance at it's finest - along the lines of Jim Morrison or Joseph Campbell's Power of Myth - our storyteller bringing us on a journey in order to reach a different level of reality where being is as simple as whatever we think it to be. Then making sure we get back to this reality safely, he returns to the song with "GONNA GET ME...NOT GONNA GET!" AAAHHHHHHH!!! I screamed and laughed and jumped so high I thought I would leap off the balcony and fly around (by the way, Van's Old Skools are the BEST shoes for jumping up and down in! ) Made me think about the ways that I am creative in this life and how wonderful it would be to create, share, and communicate energy the way Lovehammers do with their music...hmmmmm....food for thought... One of the things I love the most about Lovehammers is how they constantly bash the barriers between performer and audience. From singing while walking through the crowd, to pulling kids onstage to sing with them, to hanging out with fans after shows in a real sort of way, they do not let societal rules tell them what you can or cannot do in rock and roll. They share their experience with us and we share ourselves with them. Towards the end of Bulletholes, Marty comes to the very edge of the stage, balancing on that invisible barrier between performer and audience and he sings quietly "I wanna die for you...for you...for you..." The band plays on and Marty stands there, slowly nodding his head with the music and looks out at all of us...FOR A VERY LONG TIME. My eyes welled up with tears as the energy in the room became palpable, everyone in the room realizing that THIS IS an experience of our true connected nature. We were all there, even those hammerheads that couldn't be there in physical form were there in that moment. The unity we have through this music burns away our differences and illuminates the possibilities that appear when we get our egos out of the way and let the muses do their work... Hearing the verse of Casualty roll smoothly along and then CRASH into this anthem of a chorus that is worthy of being sung by 30,000 dedicated disciples in a packed stadium was amazing. As was taking part in a collective swoon when Marty came slinking onstage for Ultrasound, sans shirt. What I liked most about that is he times it perfectly, he let us all squee for a bit, but then brought it back to the music when he raised his fist in the air getting us to sing along with the "why's". He knows exactly what he's doing, and he is a pro at directing our energy. Very cool. And as always, Eye's Can't See found me jumping around like a wild woman, making me blissfully happy that I wore jeans and sneakers instead of a dress and heels as I had thought I would. I had a BLAST at this show. I loved laughing so much the entire time we were there. I loved the mingling before the show, I loved hanging over the balcony and waving at people on the floor. I loved having soooooooo many people sign my banner. I loved being crammed in a cab singing "Don't you want me baby!" I loved the Friday night dinner. I loved seeing old friends and meeting so many new ones from LH.com, MC.org, the sisterhood, and wherever else we all come from. I loved hanging out at the HOJO, I loved making a fool out of myself at karaoke  I love the possibilities that are opened up when you are around such good vibes for three days. I loved EVERYTHING about this weekend and I LOVE that this isn't weird to any of us! Peace and Love, Shuckra

You captured what makes Marty and this band so friggin' unique and extraordinary. Thank you!

Peace and love right back at you Shuckra....what an amazing review you gave, it seriously gave me chills...made my hairs stand on end and brought tears to my eyes. What a talented writer you are! Unfortunately I was one of the Hammerheads who could only be there in spirit...but somehow your review seemed to take me to HammerJam.... For a moment I actually felt like I was there. Thank you so much.

Shukra, I rarely post on this board, but I had to post and say that your review was awesome. Thank you so much for posting that. I tried so hard to just soak up everything last weekend, so much so that I think I left the concert with just an overall feeling of happiness, but I couldn't really remember and pick out the details. Your review reminded me of everything about the show that I loved. I loved Marty's storytelling during "Give it Up." I just stood there mesmerized by his ability to keep us all involved in this story that seemed to come out of nowhere. And I was so moved at the end of "Bulletholes" when he just stood there - I can't even explain how that felt. This is why I rarely bother writing reviews - I know when something affects me, but I can never explain exactly how or why. Anyway, loved your review. Thanks for helping me remember all the reasons that this was the best concert ever. Keri P.S. I was sitting across from you at the Hojo "cafe" on Sunday morning. I recognized you from the boards, but I didn't introduce myself 'cause I'm a big stupid chicken. But it was nice (almost) meeting you! And I got to sign your banner!

Not sure where the best place is to post this , but it is regarding a found item, if anyone lost a shirt that had signitures on it pm me, I found it saturday night at the Metro .............or ask around cause i know if it was me i would love to have it back................ Trying to remember, but someone told me that night (Saturday night) that she had lost her signed T-shirt and was hoping someone turned it in at the Metro. She said she was going to call the Metro on Sunday and find out if someone turned it in....It's driving me crazy that I am NOT sure who it is, but I will ask around...Let me know if "someone" claims it.
