Hey Star, you'll be glad you have a pink suitcase when you see how many people have black -- including myself. When we went to Chicago for HammerJam, it took forever to find our bag. In fact, there were at least 5 that looked identica to itl. We had to pull them off and read the tags.

This was posted at the lh forum: Cyberocn: Hi All, We are sorry to inform you that the Hyatt Hotel group rate has fallen thru. Roberta ( and Joe) have tried for several weeks to resolve the issues, but could not make it happen. You can still book your rooms through the Hyatt website, and through many the travel sites (expedia, orbitz, travelocity, ect) at $120-$125 per night . We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. There are many other great hotels around the area that offer cheaper rates. If anyone is wondering, I believe everyone is still going to keep the bookings at the hotel...
Jet, Den and I are still staying. Kelly and Roberta are still staying. Clean4me is staying. Sdbrins is staying.See where this is going...lol...I think the location of the hotel and all the things that are located near it make it worth the price. Besides it has great ratings.

taxegirl posted this at the lh forum:
Guys, I'm still working with the hotel. I think we have everything worked out. If you booked your room and it's not one that HAS to be prepaid, you can call in and get the discount. So, keep that in mind. I know everyone wants to get their rooms.

Clean4me just posted at the LH forum that the group rate is being given!!! Just call in and tell them which group you are with. I didn't see a code up there, so I assume you just need to ask.

just tell them you are with the hammercruise. the hotel # for the hyatt is 1-502-581-1234 and just ask for the reservation desk. IF you already have a reservation you can call and let them know that you are with the hammercruise and they will give you that rate for Fri and Sat only.

Sjjo posted this info at the LH Forum regarding Shuttle transportation at the Hyatt...LOL...There is none. Sjjo:I found this on the hotel site: Transportation • Taxi Approx from Airport: $20 one way • Downtown Trolley: $1.25 • City Bus Service: Located outside the hotel at the cost of $1.50 • Greyhound: 2 miles from hotel Taxi: Approximately, $10 one way Please note, there is no shuttle service available to/from the airport. Anyone at the airport around 3pm on Friday, maybe you would like to share a taxi with me? _________________

I just PMed this, but thought it might be helpful, if not confusing, to any still who have not made arrangements. Sorry I ramble, I worked my tush off today. Much Love to all
Ok, here's the skinny...
The Hyatt downtown seems to be the closest at 4 to 4 1/2 blocks from the dock with a $0.25 fee for a trolley that runs until 11 pm up and down 4th street.
The Marriott is 4 to 5 blocks to the river, not necessarily to the dock where the boat is, (still relatively close). There is no shuttle service but there are 24 hour cabs out front.
Both hotels are walking distance (provided no one is drunk and falls into the river ), and the streets are "generally" safe to walk at night. At any rate, it may be a good idea to walk to get there before the cruise if you're at Marriott, or take the trolley from the Hyatt (which is actually closer), then after the cruise, walk in a group or catch a Marriott cab. So in case I haven't confused you enough, let me sum up...
Hyatt is the closest, with Marriott not being more than a few blocks further. They are both walking distance. Hyatt has a trolley for 25 cents until 11pm, then you are on your own. Marriott has 24 hour cabs. It may not seem like a big city compared to Chicago, but to be on the safe side, please walk in a group. Wouldn't want any Hammerheads falling victim to unforeseen occurrence.
Anything at all you need would be my pleasure.
