RE: www.martycasey.org/Road19.html Featured photo Dan! You have no idea what a REAL cockroach is like. Down here in Florida, that little bitty bug is nothing compared to the real mambo jambo size monster roaches, palmetto bugs, etc (anything in the roachy family) that we have. Heck, some of them are large enough to have their own zip codes. What you took a photo of appears to be the common German Cockroach...small, pesty and persistent. We just smack those with a magazine or step on 'em. This is the bug that a good exterminator can be called to help you with as there are usually lots of these small ones around. Once you see one, there are hundreds more hidden out of sight. What scares me are the large palmetto bug roach things. Those things can get up to 2 inches or so...and here is the worst part. They FLY! and they can be aggressive when you go after them. They FLY RIGHT AT YOU! GAHH!! Now that is not a pretty sight! Welcome to Florida. We do have great weather, but because it is borderline tropical in nature, we have a lot of tropically things like citrus fruit, exotic plants, and insects.

LMAO, Cindy you are sooo right about the palmetto bugs. I always try and tell people who aren't from down here that they are kamikaze and will fly at you! People never seem to believe me, so it is good to know SOMEONE understands how particularly icky those bugs are!

I'm glad we're safe from them here! I think the first (and only) time I saw a cockroach was when I was holidaying in Florida - my mum told me I was weird because I just stared at it! ;D ;D ;D Then again, she runs from spiders & I find them gorgeous! Weird I know. GE - love that pic! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
