Okay, so it's not much but on page 51 it mentions the 2nd season of Rock Star and that it's a "lame" idea of this "contrived supergroup." The last part says "paging Marty Casey." I haven't thought of my response to EW yet (as I just read this 5 minutes ago).
Their email address is ew_letters@ew.com

I sure don't know what they might have ment by that, but I do know he was the best one on the show last season.
I am curious as to what everybody else thinks they ment.
Sharon
Thanks for posting that.

Maybe "paging Marty Casey to the rescue !!" Like you need to page a doctor to help a dying patient! They are complimenting Marty by it - I will look at this way, cause that's what it should mean!!!
Thanks for that update - the suspense for that new season is awful - hope they will do a good job. That show changed my life, I swear!, Marty and all of you - I am thankful for it! Another season can never compare, but hopefull they will do it justice.

I can't decide what they meant by that either! That's why I couldn't think of an immediate response. I was happy to see his name in that magazine. But you could take that comment at least a couple of different ways - that Marty was so good (did I hear great?!) he should be back. OR that it's lame to have been a runner-up on a reality show so he should come back? I dunno.......... What does everyone else think? They do have a section on downloadable songs - suggestions for people to download. Do you think enough of us could write in response to this comment and get LH some mention? And "Trees?"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MARTY CASEY STAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (hospital lingo for: Pronto!!!!) I'd be in checked into THAT hospital 24/7! He rescued me too - from my mid-life crisis. Turning 38 next week and I've NEVER felt younger & more alive since Lovehammers came into my life!!!! PS. Starlight Lady is my favorite "perscription!!" And I think Bowie would be proud of that song, the title and lyrics remind me of Bowie's alien themes and of course, Lady Stadust title - off topic - I know - but had to throw that in cause I throw in Bowie and Marty into every single conversation I have now, all day, every day, even at the bank & gas station & laundromat. I just read it myself, and I am not sure either. Wonder why they would think it is a lame idea? I mean what the heck is American Idol then? Us Rockers need something like this! Bringing out new talent. Marty showed his beautiful face and voice and all of us are grateful for the show. Im still wondering what paging Marty Casey means, but I am taking it as a compliment! I will write in too if everyone decides to do it..... oh, maybe they are just talking about the band, and they want Marty to front it, since it will be more "rock".

I think they meant that this a lame idea (I haven't decided yet, myself ... I'll withhold judgment until I see the show) but it sounds like they are implying that Marty was the one who provided the real excitement last year, and this show needs him or someone like him to make it interesting.

I believe that EW thinks this show is a lame/stupid idea. And I may be wrong, but I also believe that their Marty comment, "paging Marty Casey" was a negative connotation, meaning: As the first show's "loser", Marty should try again to win this time....I think they are saying "try again" in a mean, sarcastic way NOT a sincere, flattering way....again, just my viewpoint. Personally, I loved RS (because of Marty), and I am looking forward to the next show as well....There can never be enough rock n roll on TV for me, especially since MTV/VH1 are more about reality shows than airing music performances!!!!
---modified to add that I have changed my viewpoint of "paging Marty Casey"...see reply #22

I think the "contrived supergroup" thing is what they are referring to as lame because aren't they doing the show this year making up the band with already established artists? and they are looking for a lead singer? I think EW thinks it is a lame idea and so do I really. The "paging Marty Casey" comment was meant to say that the only way this show has any hope is if they brought him back. At least that is the way I will take it for now.

Yeah, my husband brought this to my attention yesterday and we debated it just as ya'll are doing. Here is the whole blurb as shown in the EW. Lame Idea of the Week: SUPERNOVA INXS is complete, so who will CBS' Rock Star find a singer for this summer? Supernova, a contrived "supergroup" featuring among others, Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. Paging Marty Casey.
My take is they thought a "supergroup" was lame and remembering that the folks at EW liked Mr. Casey thought he could save it. Now you....

I also think it's a compliment, but it certainly is ambiguous. Perhaps some polite emails to EW would cause them to clarify and also let them know that Marty has a huge, active fan base!
