Here's a blurb I found for everyone's pleasure
My Weekend Ian Finch
Event: Premiership football
Role: Match of the Day senior producer/studio director – one of several on a rota.
Responsibilities: To plan and produce MOTD, direct the live programme. Most technical preparation is done in the week. More spontaneous is selecting music. A track I'd like is Trees by Marty Casey & the Lovehammers. The lyrics are perfect for a Nottingham Forest win – which means we'd have my team on the BBC. Concerns: Lots can go wrong: losing pictures, VT, graphical or studio-based errors. But we're an experienced team; horrors are few and far between.
Today: Noon, arrive at TV Centre, establish communications with 12.45pm commentator. 3pm, keep an eye on several games. 5.15pm, late game starts while I script the VT/cameras/graphics/music. 7.30pm, look at camera shots. Ensure studio looks good, everything is working. 8pm, record a promo trail with Gary Lineker for after the Lottery show. 9.45pm, shoot links for the morning repeat, begin rehearsals. 10.25pm, live on BBC One. 11.25pm, off air. Head home.
Tomorrow: For MOTD2, routine is similar, but with Adrian Chiles presenting. Teams in the Uefa Cup tends to make Sunday as busy as Saturday.

this is really cool Trees. As anyone who watches or has ever watched footie or rugby in UK knows, the song selection is really important. Every team has a song and entire stadiums of fans sing along to sow support. I may have to cheer for Nottigham Forest if they're going to support Trees!

Does this mean I have to watch football in order to hear Marty in the UK. Hey ho, I guess I'll start looking out for when they are playing

I e-street-teamed this guy. You can read what I wrote him in the US street team section of the Lovehammers.com message board.

The more difficult problem is, how do I get my oh to realise why I'm watching footy, as I never have before - he doesn't watch it either. Any ideas........
