As you probably all know by now, Marty wrote a much longer piece than was published. You can read the whole 'day-in-Chicago' article in Marty's blog.

That being said, I am going to stick up for the editors, who might be trashed by fans for cutting Marty's lovely prose. It's worth remembering that they had a plan for an article featuring many people and wanted it to be light and easy to read -- I get it. They probably didn't give very explicit instructions and/or weren't expecting Marty's carefully considered article. All in all, hurrah for CP for helping promote MC -- (article) size doesn't always matter!
