Ok, I noticed this on their website the other day and now Marty said so on the interview this morning: It's Marty Casey & Lovehammers (not Marty Casey & the Lovehammers). Why? Does anybody know?
I know that Marty would probably prefer the band to just be known as Lovehammers (that's what he referred to the band as in the NC radio interview).
Just curious.

I always thought it was because that would kind of sound like Marty is separate from the band.

After thinking about it for a while, I think you're right, chanvre. If the "the" was there, it would be like Marty and "those guys." Without the "the," it puts less distance between them.

It's probably for sake of brevity. Adding "the" to the name would make the name kind of long. It's kind of like what the band said about dropping the world "Swinging" from Lovehammers. They said that it looked better on billboards because the lettering could be larger with fewer letters.
Just my guess anyway.

Didn't Marty say something about making us think. I would have to go listen again.
But if you think about it, it makes sense to not have 'the'. Going back to when they were Swinging Lovehammers... there was no 'the' then so why add one now. Swinging the Lovehammers sounds totally wrong, doesn't it? LOL Plus, Lovehammers just has more Impact. Lovehammers...bam. The Lovehammers. uhhh...not so much. Marty Casey & Lovehammers sounds just right to me. Well, Lovehammers sounds better. ; ) But that is another post all together. LOL One I think has been done before at LH.com

I noticed that MSN music has it wrong. If you go to msn.com and click on music they have Marty Casey and the Lovehammers. They put "the" in there name. I am sure people will make that mistake often since so many bands have "the" in them.

I hear ya, RB.
Also, I think the DJ the other morning hit it right on the nail. He said something like you have to stop before you say Lovehammers. If you say "Marty Casey & the Lovehammers," the Lovehammers part of that can kind of dwindle away. If you say, "Marty Casey & Lovehammers," you kind of have to pause before you say Lovehammers and that makes Lovehammers seem to be more emphasized.
~Ceeje *who has analyzed this WAY too much* lol

I think that it will eventually just be Lovehammers. The band as a whole, not headlining "Marty Casey" and Lovehammers. Like it was before, just Lovehammers. IMO the Marty Casey is out for name recognition from the show, but the four guy consider themselves Lovehammers

At first, I didn't like the idea of the name of MC & Lovehammers, but it makes sense to me now. There are a lot of fans out there that only know Marty because of the show. Once they get it established that Marty is in the Lovehammers, I think they will change their name back.

Once they have enough clout I'm sure they'll drop the first part - like John Mellencamp changed from John Cougar once he was able to.

The band is called "Lovehammers" not "The Lovehammes" -- I think the goal is to hit it big with this CD so next time around they can go back to just Lovehammers without the MC in front.

Thats what I was gonna say! and it really does make you stop and think about Lovehammers as a whole they are not expendable they have been together too long and have worked too damn hard to get to where they are now!
