Both LA Guns bands have official MySpaces.
I dunno if this is the right thread to talk about this, but - I've read up on the story of why there are 2 different line-ups (being a huge Phil Lewis fan in my teen years) and was wondering what the real deal is? I know Tracii left a few years ago to do some side project while the band continued to perform and record. So I'm a bit confused about that. Seems like Tracii's former bandmates have a lot of bad blood going on where he's concerned.

The real deal is that both Tracii Guns and Steve Riley own the name, but please, don't forget that Tracii is the Guns in Guns and Roses but also the Guns in L.A. Guns. The fact of Tracii leaving the band for joining Brides of Destruction is not too accurate, Trace had his reason to do it. But it doesn't matter. Meanwhile Riley and Lewis love to talk shit about "our version" and encourage fans to do it, we have it totally forbidden because we respect everyone's busines. The world is huge enough for both bands. Trust me Bren, we want people outside of this stupid fight so just enjoy the music  |

I think it is commendable that the L.A. Guns fans on Tracii's side of the fence respect both versions of the band. I see that echoed throughout your message board. Taking the high road is always a smart choice.
Trash talking is not beneficial to either side and only makes the negative fans look bad, don't you think?

This is one of the rules of the board that Tracii wrote " This is a place to have a positive experience. There will be no Bashing of Phillip Lewis, Stacey Blades or Adam Hamilton on this board. If anyoneis bashed, your IP address will be permanently banned....... Lets have fun!!!!!!
Tracii" It is clear that everybody has their own opinion, but it is not necessary to be unrespectful to anyone and we are very serious about it... can't say the same on the other L.A.Guns lineup tho  |

Thanks for clearing that up! I hate to see these 2 bands and their fans fueding. I mean, I love Phil Lewis and want to support him, but I also love Marty and want to support him as well. I just hope everyone can eventually let bygones be bygones and like you said, enjoy the music.

If you're going to quote, please be accurate. I remember Tracii posting that, but you forgot where he also said something to the effect of "...feel free to rape Steve Riley..." directly after he said not to bash any of the other members. (looks like you conveniently left that part out)! I'm a fan of the band. Of course, like all the other fans, I have my personal opinion of which I think is better or closer to the original. (my personal opinion is Phil's version just because he's the voice who I associate with the L.A. Guns I & so many others grew up with)! Also, Tracii DID leave L.A. Guns to play with Brides. "He had his reasons" was said by someone here, and yes, the reason was to join Brides! He didn't just take a leave of absence or something. He QUIT the band before a tour with Alice Cooper. Everybody already knows this. So why there's so many people who get so bent out of shape about this, I don't understand. All that being said, I think Marty has a good voice and can sing, I just think it'd be better at this point, calling it something else. (there's only ONE original member - tracii!!!) Frmith how funny I grew up in LA in the 80's and never even heard of LA Guns. Of course I was too busy following Adam Ant and DEVO and Duran Duran and Billy Idol etc etc. If it weren't for Marty I never would have even given LAG a second look.The same with LH's it was Marty's apprearance on Rockstar that made me google him and that led me to LH's and this board. In my opinion if Tracii is the only original LAG he should be the one to get first dibs on the name and the others should change their name. But in reality nothing is ever that easy..LOL Anyway welcome to the boards and I hope youlike us here.  Jill |

Thank you for the welcome. I hope you'll have a chance to check out L.A. Guns stuff (before Marty) with Phil, the voice of L.A. Guns. If you like what you've heard Marty sing, you'll quite enjoy it the way it was originally sung. I know what you're saying about the name thing. But Tracii is the only original member in this band because he LEFT the ORIGINAL L.A. Guns. My point is just that Tracii is the one who decided to leave "his" band to start working with Brides Of Destruction because he thought it was the "bigger better deal". He wasn't worried at all about the rest of the band continuing on because he thought he was set with Nikki Sixx. Once that didn't work, & he had nothing else to do, all of a sudden he decides to put ANOTHER band of the same name together??? Whether he owns half the name or not, that just doesn't make much sense!! That's like Pete Willis (original guitar player) getting together with Tony Kenning, the ORIGINAL drummer for Def Leppard, and touring as Def Leppard! Absurd!! If Tracii cared about L.A. Guns - the name and the band in general, he would've taken care of it when he decided to leave in the first place. (back in 2003 or 2004) That's my take on it. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling this way. Just check out other sites (blabbermouth, metalsludge to name a few) Frmith how funny I grew up in LA in the 80's and never even heard of LA Guns.
