How to set up your avatar: First, you need to save the avatar to your computer. Then you need to upload it to your own web storage site (like www.photobucket.com. Photobucket accounts are free and pretty easy to set up.) If you direct link to someone's avatar, your link will be broken if the pic is moved and it's considered stealing bandwidth. So, it's best to upload them yourself. Now, look up to the top of the board. Under the "MartyCasey.org: A Marty Casey Fan Site" Banner, in little writing, click on "profile," (right beside "logout"). Next to "Member's Bio," click on the link called "Modify Profile." Scroll down to the section called "Personal Information." In the field called "Avatar URL" put the link to the avatar. (At photobucket it gives it to you under the photo in the picture album in a field called "Url.") For "Avatar Width" and "Avatar Height" put 100 in each field. (That's what all mine are and most others are too.) "Personal Text" is whatever you want it to say under your avatar. Click "Modify Profile" at the bottom of the page and your avatar is set up. You can also set up other features in this section like signatures and website links.

I am an admin on a forum I run (nothing to do with Marty...sorry)... I was wondering if we could add a graphic with [/img] tags to our signatures? I'm hosting my pics from imagecave and have no issues with bbcode on my own forum...is this forum set up to support bbcode? I've tried to add something but the text just shows...not the graphic.....

It would be awesome if we could have graphics in our signatures! Please, please, with Marty on top.

The board parameters won't allow it. We've tried endlessly.

Melissa,
It should have the extention .jpg on it. If it doesn't have that extension, Photobucket may not recognize it.
Try saving it again with .jpg at the end of the file name. That should work. You can "right click, save as" the pics from my post above.

The board parameters won't allow it. We've tried endlessly. You've probably already done this but if you haven't...... Here is the link to ProBoards support forum...I'm sure if you ask in there you may get the help you need..... support.proboards.com/I use a different board so I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with this one...I'll snoop around tho and see what I can figure out.

Can anybody else help?

Try clearing your "Temporary Internet Files" and see if that helps.

Also take care that you are not using special characters....Proboard does not support any url's with special characters...if you have any the image will not display....

To post your graphics to the board: First you must upload your graphics on the web. I suggest www.photobucket.com. You can create a free account; it's pretty easy. Next, to post the images, you have to use tags. If you have your graphics in Photobucket album, under the pic it will have a field called "Img." Copy and paste this text into your message. When you post it, the image will appear. If the image is very large (wider than 600 pxls), post the link to the image (url) rather than the image itself.

Photobucket also supports Bitmap & png - Try saving it as one of those. I have had to do that with some of my avatars. Hope this helps!

Thanks Ceeje for the great avatars, have finally put one on my profile after wondering how everyone else had done theirs. Great instructions, not hard to do at all. Keep up the great work.
