Longing For Yesterday



There is something I need to know
Why can't I just let you go
I should turn and walk away
Forget the words of yesterday

Stop these silly, little dreams
It's not as easy as it seems
I beg my heart to let you go
But it always answers no

Special is how you made me feel
Alive, excited and oh so real
I know you use to feel it too
Don't want to say goodbye to you

I wish that you still cared for me
That things were like they use to be
But your feelings slipped away
Even though I tried to make them stay

Sometimes I think I 'm over you
That friendship will just have to do
Then I remember all you've said to me
I know this heart won't soon be free

The words you spoke changed my life
Remembering them now cuts like a knife
This lonely heart is filled with need
I never knew the soul could bleed
