USA Today's Jan.31 issue reviewed the new cd in their LIFE section along with many others. Anyway,it was given 2 stars and a rather glum appraisal. Unfortunately,I agreed with it. I'm going back to my original instinct about the band probably never getting huge except maybe as a great "live performance" draw. HOWEVER, my other strong feeling has to do with Marty himself. To me, he has "acting career" written all over him. He is sooo photogenic, charismatic, and possesses a truly unique speaking voice. I hope he finds time to start acting lessons.

I agree that LH are a great "live" draw but that if people aren't familiar with Marty through RS, it's very hard for them to "get" his appeal just by listening to the CDs. My boyfriend said they are "fun" but has no interest in seeing them. And he's a real music fan. Marty is fiercely loyal, so I can't see him ending his relationship with LH. But so many artists also go out and do things on their own ... maybe he'll tour with them and also with other musicians (Navarro???).

I don't know what to disagree with first. I think I'll hold my tongue and just say that Marty is a 'SINGER' not an 'actor' and may he remain that way forever regardless of the success level he reaches --which I hope WILL be 'huge'. They will continue to slowly build their audience as more and more fans discover the greatness that is everything Lovehammer! Marty and the LHs know how much hard work is required to build a loyal fan base and I've rarely seen one as loyal as theirs...and it seems to keep growing and growing. Their success may not be instant but will be ever increasing over years and years of great music! Count me among the people who loved the new album and Marty's voice both live and in a recording studio.

I of course disagree about the Lovehammers, but you are entitled to your opinion.
Re: Marty as an actor? I am really surprised by that. In my opinion, Marty comes fully alive when he is on stage singing. The transformation is stunning and breathtaking. There is no place else for Marty than on a stage with the boys, singing his heart out. Connecting with the crowd. Conveying his passion for the music, the lyrics, the moment.

I have to say something. Yes, Marty is gorgeous, but I prefer my actors to be able to act. I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good actor. I'm saying I wouldn't enjoy Johnny Depp movies if he wasn't such a fabulous actor. I might watch some just to see the beauty of Depp, but he wouldn't be one of my favorites. Looks alone don't do it, I need more than just a pretty face.

I love the way we can all agree to disagree around here!
I have to say, I love the CD. It's been polished up a bit (from what I've heard on the Lovehammers marathons on indiebandradio), but I still love it. My girls love it. My six year old can even sing "The Riddle." Hee hee hee.
Ah well, boo, there's world enough for all kinds of music.
Keep your punches coming ...

I think that Boo should go elsewhere and stir up someone else's pot. Boo likes to stir up trouble - go back and read her posts. If it wasn't Marty voice, it is a bad review. Perhaps she really came from another board?

Personally, I feel that since the band is so completely fan-driven, they will indeed be around for years to come. I mean, all you have to do is look at the history of the band. (Boo, you're probably not too familiar?) These guys have been kicking ass on stage for an insanely long time, and not for fame and fortune purposes. They enjoy the hell out of it, they love their fans, and now they finally have a huge break. WE, as loyal Hammerheads, control the fate of our boys. And I can pretty much speak for everyone that we are going to support them and spread the "love" around for a long, long time. This is not just their journey, but ours, too. I can't see anything but wonderful things happening for them.
Everyone can have their opinion. But um, mine's the right one. Ahaha. Kidding.

I think that Boo should go elsewhere and stir up someone else's pot. I agree...Boo...Go Home, as you can clearly see, even though you have a right to think and voice your opinions, their not really wanted or necessary anymore, allot of people are just like you, and I personally feel like that is an ulcer in America's belly, always negative this or that or some other distastful wrong energy, start seeing the light Boo, this is a board where yes, good and bad is said, but damn, you have yet to say anything good, so Go Home...we all have the privelege to think, so try doing some of that next time!!!!!Oh my....Sorry, I will always defend Lovehammers no matter what!!!!...Oh Boo...Do you watch T.V.?...
