Turns out I'm not going to be able to afford the drives to Louisville and Schaumburg...at over $50 a tank, I just can't shell out $100 a show right now. Sucks, b/c I get paid at the end of the week. Damn adult life. Despite my dreams of going to 3 shows in 4 days (I'm jealous Isa) , I have to sacrifice and make it to just 1 show, so looks like its going to be Fort Wayne. Will be my hubby's first Marty experience. IF he doesn't get too jealous, I think he'll get why I'm addicted and quickly jump on board for the Marty Party's! Anyone else going? Any guys coming along? We're probably going to spend the night.....FYI: Piere's runs a special deal with Country Inn and Suites for only $75.99 a night (with printable coupon off the website) AND it does a free shuttle to the club. So that's what I think we're going to plan on. I think the local Days Inn only charges $60 a night as well.

Man I sure wish I could go to this show! I had a best friend from Ft. Wayne and i've always wanted to go there. Plus, it is my birthday and I am sure I could handle one more LAG's show this month. What, just sayin'.

I posted a video of the end of the show in Marty Videos. Only 1 I got. I did manage to get a few decent pics, not my usual....I was LATE, missed the first 4 songs....didn't know he was coming on so early. Should have my slide show up tonight! Nancy and Lisa were there though and had a much better vantage point, so I'm sure when they post their's you will be blown away! He was amazin.

Here is the best recollection I have at this moment in time and my current state of bliss. We arrived LATE…who knew our notorious night owl would go on at 9pm. I’m usually there early and use the opening band to figure out my camera and lighting, no such luck this time. We found Piere’s pretty easily, but I hadn’t pre-purchased tickets, so a quick transaction at the door took longer than needed (it was actually pretty fast) when I could hear Marty talking and introducing “Wish You Were Here”. I seriously thought I was going to hurt someone as I rushed to grab the closest spot to the left of the stage with my husband trailing behind me. Come to find out, they had already played 4 songs, so needless to say I was a bit bummed. Marty looked like he had already worked up a sweat and sounded amazing, looking ever so sexy sitting on stage next to Traci as he sang the stripped down acoustic version of WYWH. Quickly, I shook it off, got out my camera and tried to center myself in the Martyverse. I saw that Nancy and Lisa were across stage to the right and center, so I knew they would get good pics if I didn’t, so I just flipped my camera into nightshot and figured I’ll capture what I can. Everything happened so quickly, it really is a blur to me, I know Nancy got a set list and she’s much better at this review thing than me. After WYWH, Marty belted out a LAG song, I think maybe “Never Enough”. Jeremy rocked the house with an intense performance of STFU which really got the crowd going as Marty took time to step off stage for a much needed sweat wipe down. He returned with vengeance and captivated the crowd with Electric Gypsy (my favorite thus far). Then he made his way to my side of the stage, looked right at me (you know what I mean) and worked everyone into a frenzy during Trees when he made it over the rail and into the crowd where he danced amongst them during the bridge. It seemed like he must have been figuring out during the show how to get down into the crowd because he executed his pounce with classic cat like Marty moves. After he leapt back up on stage he absolutely nailed Ballad of Jayne, even my husband was singing along. Then he got everyone hot and bothered when the shirt came off and he starting singing Sex Action. Tracii and Marty were really playing off each other a lot, especially at the end of Sex Action when they finished it with the verse of Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black”. I was really feeling the music and could see how free Marty was and he seemed to be absolutely vested in every minute of the performance and lapping up every bit of energy the crowd gave him. They finished with Rip and Tear and literally blew the lid off the place. Marty and Tracii got into it, mimicking each other with Marty’s vocals and Tracii’s guitar, before the ended with high energy. I posted a video of that. Of course, I didn’t get enough, who could ever get enough Marty! I must say, I would never believe that the band has only been playing together for a couple of months. Everyone of them seemed like they were having the time of their life. Now that I know about Marty meeting with the fans after the show….I was determined to meet him this time! I was able to talk with Lisa, Nancy, Donna and Amanda for a bit while waiting on Marty to come out. While I was waiting, Chad (the drummer) walked by and I casually said “hi”, he looked surprised that someone knew his name. FYI: if you want to get on Chad’s good side, he loves Jager. I spotted him coming out from backstage before anyone, he had apparently taken a quick rinse. He was wearing a white western long sleeve shirt with a couple of buttons undone. (It was the thinnest, softest shirt, like a really perfect t-shirt.) neatly tucked into very low black pinstripe pants with a belt and his Trees pendent. His hair was still a little damp and he smelled soooo good! He spotted the regulars right away and quickly rushed to give them hugs and chat. I was incredibly nervous and wasn’t sure how to go about introducing myself. With a nudge from my darling husband, I finally just walked up to Marty and introduced myself as Adrienne, and then quickly said, jupiterjane to which Marty said, oh yeah, I know you, I answered your question last night. LOL I put my hand out to shake his when he shot me a look that said “Seriously, who is this girl, we don’t shake hands here” and he gave me a great big hug that took my breath away for just a second. We took a picture together and then talked for a bit about chicks who rock, he’s a big PJ Harvey fan. We talked about the trees pendant and how he’s having a guitar made that will actually be etched with the same Tree design. I was blown away by the whole Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing he has going on. He’s such a maniac on stage and so easy going, calm, attentive off stage, perhaps that is what makes his so damn sexy! While others began to talk to him, I realized that was the perfect opportunity to sneak off and get my surprise for him. I came back in and gave him some homemade cookies for him and the guys to which he was surprised and quickly gave me another great Marty hug! I talked again for a bit and then he made his way off since they were driving to Schaumburg that night. So we ventured by the merch table for a quick look of the new shirt when we ran into Jeremy and started talking with him about the tour. What a talented and wickedly cool guy. He apparently blew out his speaker during the show and was looking for a silver sharpie so he could sign it and they could sell it at the table. LOL What a night….wish it could be every night.

Excellent review jupiterjane!!! Great detail. I'm so glad you got to meet Chad and Jeremy and that you got to meet, talk to, and get a couple of those famous hugs from Marty. Sounds like an amazing show, of course!
And...the slide show is fantastic! He looks good!!!

Jupiterjane thanks for sharing your great video, slide show and review!!
Finally Hammered 3/14/08!![br]Believe and all things are possible. [br]One day the angels got together and decided to create a dream come true (MC). - The Carpenters[br]Thank you Ceeje for the avi.
First, I want to say a big THANK YOU to the friend who made this happen for us. It means more to me than you know. Thank you so very much!!!!!
I'd never been to Piere's before, but it's a very interesting place. It's supposed to be the largest nightclub in the midwest, with several different clubs under one roof. They have national acts there on a regular basis. Seether was scheduled for later this week.
The stage had a row of massive subwoofers all along the front of it, and I think the venue must be very proud of them, because they had those suckers cranked up to maximum volume. (Ouch!) The bass sounds were so loud that they were drowning out everything else, so I put my earplugs in all the way, and figured I'd just enjoy watching the show and taking pics. Again, I could actually hear a little better with them in, because of the loudness. That was the venue's doing, not the band's, because it was like that for all the bands that night. Duane had his decibel meter there (having learned his lesson at Green Bay! ), and the sound was maxing out his meter at 126 decibels! There really is no need to have bands that loud, and I wish that venues would stop doing that. It takes away from the sound quality.
Aside from that, it was a great show. The guys seemed to be feeling rather playful, even though it was fairly hot in the place. They were firing on all cylinders right from the start, and as soon as they started playing, the crowd came from all over the venue to the stage to get the full experience. They played for an hour, due to Piere's having an early curfew, but they made the most of their time. Adrienne covered the songs from "WYWH" on really well, so I'll just add about the ones she missed. They started with "Over The Edge", which got the crowd going, then launched full blast into "No Mercy". I really dig that song! You get the full-on Marty effect for sure on that one! Then next was "One More Reason", followed by the crowd participation new song "Fire It Up", that starts with "I got your back, you got mine, we're gonna have a real good time!" (I think everyone's had adventures like that with their "wingman" or "wingwoman"!)
I've gotten many photos over the last couple years of Marty in mid-jump, but I got one that night that is different than all the rest. I caught him in mid-jump with a HUGE grin on his face, while looking at Tracii. They are clearly having a great time together, and really appreciate each other!
Marty came to talk to us all afterward, and was his usual sweet and charming self. He headed for the bus around when Faster Pussycat started, after more hugs for everyone. I think he wanted to rest up for his big day in Chicago the next day. Or maybe he was eager to start in on the cookies Adrienne brought! Very nice to talk to the other Hammerheads/Marty fans there.
We also got to have an earlier night, so we were ready to roll to Schaumburg the next morning! Woohoo---3 shows in 4 days!!!
