Hi! Don’t pretend to add fuel to the fire, but as it seems my post has been misunderstood, I want to clarify something, especially to you Julianah because I don’t want you to think that we are promoting trash-talking among our fans, nothing further from our intention. It is clear that “rape” is not a nice word in any context. I totally agree with you, and I am really sorry if someone has felt offended because of it… but that quote was written as a joke that naturally, people who are not into L.A. Guns can’t understand. That was meant to be funny indeed and when Tracii wrote it, he knew that all the people who come to our board was going to laugh out loud with it. Why? Because normally, the people who come to our board are L.A. Guns fans, so they are aware of the situation among Guns/Riley. Most of them know what have happened and why Trace is so hurt and angry with him. I am not going to give you details because that’s not our business. It is something that exclusively affects to them. I have my opinion about it, but we are not discussing that. Now we have loads of new friends hanging out there and most of then haven’t even heard about L.A. Guns before, or at least not enough to understand such quote, but trust me when I say that anybody in the L.A. Guns world can feel offended with it. If you have some time Julianah, go to our board and check each and every thread posted on there (BTW if you have time to do so, it means that you’re really bored ) and if you find ONLY ONE post talking shit about the other version of L.A. Guns, including Riley, let me know… but I am pretty sure that you’re not going to find any. That doesn’t mean that Tracii and the L.A. Guns team are working properly (but hey! We are doing it! )… That means that everybody has understood the rules in spite of the aforesaid quote. For your information, Tracii and the band do not allow negative comments on Riley either. Hope this makes things more clear to you and to anyone who reads this. Our message board is more than a quote, and you’re very welcome to join and enjoy the good things and vibes we try to have in there. So if you have any more questions please, feel free to PM and ask me because that’s why I am here for ok? We don’t need to confuse people with theories or interpretations of things we don’t know about I want to add as well that the people who runs martycasey.com site and message boards is AWESOME, very professional and they are doing a GREAT JOB. I am very lucky to have the chance to co work with them and our intention so far is to merge both fan bases, let the LAG fans learn more about Marty, let Marty’s fans learn more about LAG and have fun together working out for the best. Said that… let’s back to talking about music and bands as Ceeje wisely said!!!

I've heard some really great things about the LA Guns site from some of your new members. Every day I say I'm going in to join, but never get there. One day.... As far as freedom of speach is concerned - Obviously there is definitely a limit. No one is allowed to walk up in the street and start calling me names, insulting me, etc. I'll call the cops and have him/her hauled away. Why should it be allowed in print? The pen is mightier than the sword, but writing intelligently with regard to readers and the person (musician) should also be considered. (Does the writer really have the right/information to be insulting a person's integrity? family?) I like : Why? Because normally, the people who come to our board are L.A. Guns fans, so they are aware of the situation among Guns/Riley. Most of them know what have happened and why Trace is so hurt and angry with him. I am not going to give you details because that’s not our business. It is something that exclusively affects to them. I have my opinion about it, but we are not discussing that.By speculating and then throwing mud on something that doesn't concern the fans gets old...boring.. Let's bring on the new music and get on with our lives.

Is anyone offended by the song "Real Man" ?? just asking. The definition for rape is not always tied to a physical assault, and has been used many a time in poetry and songwriting. As it is a message board I highly doubt that anything physical CAN happen through the keyboards. .. obviosuly meant as a joke,,,,Hmmm, what can we pick apart next?? OR, maybe we should just focus on the music!!!

Do you seriously want someone to answer your first two questions? Or were they rhetorical? In case they weren't rhetorical, I think we're all familiar with what Real Man is about... It's about a woman feeling objectified. I've never been offended by the word's use in that context. Maybe others have. I dunno. I'm not interested in picking apart anything.
Or do you want to just focus on the music? I'm all for that. (I guess your question about Real Man WAS encouraging discussion about music in a way.)
Anyway, I wish we could hear some of the new music which Marty helped to write. I'm looking forward to it being posted on-line so we can discuss it. I think the only fans who have heard it so far are the ones who went to the Green Bay show. Does anyone have video they wouldn't mind sharing? I'd love to see/hear the new band in action.

What am I picking apart? That's a serious question. I'd like to know. I answered Cimee's questions and then TRIED to start a discussion about the music. The first time I posted in this thread, it was because I had a question and, apparently, that was a mistake. Please, someone let me know what I'm ALLOWED to say.
Edited to say: Please PM me if you want to answer my question. I don't want to be accused of taking this thread any further off track. Thanks.

Hmmm, sounds like freedom of speech to me....you know, taking the crunchy with the smooth and the bitter with the sour, etc etc etc. If you truly believe in freedom of speech and want to advocate it, you have to accept it in any form, no matter how personally offensive you find it. So are you advocating censorship now that you have found some free speech that you don't agree with? Absolutely not, Nancy. I think I've made it quite clear that I am a strong proponent of free speech. You missed my point entirely. The discussion in this thread was about Tracii encouraging the fans of the LA Guns message board to take the high road and not take part in the trash-talking that was happening on the OTHER LA Guns side. So, I was confused by what looks to me like contradiction in the rules of the site. I had a question about who Steve Riley was because I was wondering what he could have done to incur a statement like the one I quoted. Tamashi was kind enough to answer my question. Thanks, Tamashi! Since you asked, however, Nancy, there have been times when I have encountered free speech that I DO find objectionable. I think we all know that freedom of speech isn't a black & white issue. There are grey areas. For instance, I would not back up a person's right to incite hatred and violence against others (i.e. Holocaust-deniers, racists, Neo-Nazis, people issuing fatwas against writers because they feel their words insult their religion, people publishing child pornography and trying to call it "art"...) If someone wants to post "feel free to absolutely rape Steve Riley here" on their own message board, I would defend their right to do so, whether I find it offensive or not. I believe it was meant to be funny... even if I don't find the use of the word "rape" funny in any context... because I don't believe the writer is actually encouraging people to LITERALLY rape Steve Riley. I'm not that obtuse. The reason I mentioned it here was only because I felt it was pertinent to the discussion about taking the higher ground and because it piqued my curiosity about Steve Riley. P.S. Sorry Jilly. I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie now. I just wanted to answer Nancy's pubic question to me publicly. I'm done now. Excellent post, made sense to me, and I just LOVE how you express yourself and make your points crystal clear....... Love Nancy

You're allowed to say whatever you want. Anyone can, but as adults we know that there are repurcussions for the things we say and they are not always greeted with enthusiasm from people with differing opinions. I wouldn't let it get to you.... it's just a message board. There's probably bigger things going on than this. Kudo's to you for trying to stay focused on the music. I get what you were saying. Can't wait to hear the new music and get lyrics!!

I'm glad that Tracii has decided to take the higher ground. It's something we should all strive for.

I know that Yak has posted a video on her MySpace (and I think it's somewhere in .org but not sure which thread). It's from Green Bay. The recording wasn't so hot (due to it being recorded on her camera and in front of a speaker) but it gives us a bit of what themusic is like. Traci wales (or is that whales?) on the guitar. Band sounded great and so did Marty (if you can filter out the bad recording part of it). I think it's going to be one hell of show. Hey Cim - aren't you seeing them this weekend?

Thanks Henry. Yak's one of my Myspace friends. I'll pop over to her page. P.S. I think it's "wails."

I'd love one, but only if you remember and you're not busy using those arms to pump, dance, shake Deb a bit. ;D Have a blast! I look forward to your review. Those boys should sound good coming off of a couple of days down in Puerto Rico. Geez! Even you and I would sound good after a couple days resting on the beach down there.
