I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread for my review and pics.
Mahtymania and C, flew down to go to this show with me and we got there around 3:30pm or so. I'm sure she will also add to this as my memory will leave out some details that others will pick up.
First, I want to tell you about the whole set-up. Dave did an amazing job setting up this show. It was $5 to get in with 5 bands and free food and drinks! I wasn't expecting much for $5. It barely buys you a gallon of gas.
I was totally impressed.. the drinks were bottles of Bud. Vodka and cranberry, Vodka and orange, bottled water and a few other's. The lines to get drinks were very short and very well managed. I have to say, this is the BEST managed outdoor festival that I have attended here in Florida.
The Stage set-up was really cool. You had the normal stage part and then a loooong runway that split off at the end to a T, that held the two dancers cages. The dancers they brought out throughout the show from Cheetah club were really good also. It wasn't that "ho skanky" vibe at all. Boobies don't bother me, I have a pair too and I see them everyday, so it's nothing I haven't seen before. Totally NOT a shocker. The show was 21 and up.
Seriously, there was not a bad spot for that stage. We got there later, so the first band we saw was Mary Margaret???. They were a good cover band and got the crowd going. Then Bang Tango came out and I really really like this band! I didn't know who they were before the show. It totally rocked and I did not get that stale 80's rock band feel at all. It also helped that were totally hot! IMO. What a great opening band for L.A. Guns!.
We were right up front on the runway, where the runway and main stage meet so we had perfect spots.
Time for L.A. Guns!! whoot! Tracii and Jeremy came out and was setting up a few things and then the full band came out and just started wailing. I don't know the order of songs. I can describe them for you and what happened but they probably won't be in any particular order. I am picking up the puzzle pieces and makin a review of it. lol.
The sound was great and Marty sounded amazing with the band. I thought his mic was still a little low, but the overall sound was very very good.
The best songs, that I remember in detail.
When they broke into Ballad of Jayne... Marty's voice is absolutely perfect for this!! I looked back at Deb and squeed, and I am not the sqeeing kinda person, that's how good it was....
Jeremy sang STFU. I loved it!! that song kicks ass and I was really surprised, I hadn't heard Jeremy sing before..He was really good.
I don't think I even have to say that Tracii plays his guitar like he was the inventor of it. The kind of rifs that one minute can make your heart ache and the next make it soar..
TREES... KICKED... ASS
(and I wasn't a fan) You HAVE to hear this version!
There were smiley face blow up balls being patted around and kept getting on-stage during the night. It made it's way up there when Marty was there and he started doing the Mad Conductor on the ball! Like it was a head or something. lol! Too Cool!
*Best part of the night*
Marty came out and sat on one side of the runway on the speaker... Tracii came out and sat on the other side on the speaker, his knee was actually touching my head, that's how close they were to the fans. The broke into WYWH. OMG.!!! crowd was completely mesmerized... girls were crying, hands were swaying. It was amazing...
At the end of their set the whole band got up and walked down the runway together to the end.... I looked down and they were standing in a line, arms up... the crowd went wild.... they walked back up the runway and it was a line of hands all the way up the runway... they high-fived the hands all the way back up to the main stage....it was an AWESOME show...
I'm going to end on that note, that is the picture I want to finish with.. a great band...a great crowd... Magical.
PS. I got chills writing the last part. You had to be there...
