I have been reading Stranded - Rock and Roll for a Desert Island; the classic compilation from 1978, where 20 rock writers were asked to write an essay about their "desert island disc".
In his introduction, Greil Marcus says that the writers "didn't necessarily choose to write about the album they thought was the best", but that the pieces were "fan statements...written out of involvement more than judgement, and they mean to tell tales not everyone has heard,".
So, based on that criteria, what would your "desert island disc" be? What tale would you tell?
