I Hate to say anything mean about Marty but, I feel I must. I think Marty's attitude at the Farley Fest was depressive. It seemed like Marty did not want to be there. I have seen Marty and the Love hammers 5 to 6 times and he acted like I was a stranger. When my sister and I tried to talk to him he was distant and unresponsive. When people came up to him after the concert he acted like he was bothered. If it is a burden Marty stay on the bus. Marty remember you are only as big as your fans are, and I was deeply alienated. Please try to be nice to your fans!!!! Even a bad mood is no excuse, you have to roll with life.

Wow, i'm sure Marty didn't mean to be that way. Everybody has a bad day now and again, maybe that was what happened. From what i read online that show didn't have as big of a turn out as expected. So sorry to hear you had a bad Marty experience....

Arat - First welcome to the boards. This is a great place to visit to get news and share. I am sorry to hear that your experience was not what you expected at the Farley Flood Fest. I thought it was interesting to read what you wrote in the wee hours of the morning and what Marty wrote in the wee hours of the morning. Coincidence, perhaps. I would like to share with you a little different perspective. I think that Marty Casey always, without exception, does his very best. But alas, as much as we like to idolize him, he is in reality just like you and me. And some days his best is not what we saw the day before. I have seen him also when he was engaging after a show and other times when he seemed a little distant and pre-occupied. All I can say is that I know people could say the same about me, at my work. I personally go to his shows to see him perform. When he is not in an upbeat engaging mood, i understand as I do with any other person. So perhaps he was not feeling well, perhaps he is homesick (I get that way alot, and I travel on business more than he does), perhaps he got some bad news. But he sticks around after the shows and does his best to greet his fans. And I respect him and appreciate his effort. So I would suggest to you and any other fan who sees Marty after a show and he seems not in a chipper mood, just give him a hug or hold his hand and tell him you understand. After all, he just gave you an amazing performance. Perhaps as fans, we can give him some compassion when he needs it. I for one, do not want him to go to the bus, I want to give him that hug and try to cheer him up a little. Arat - I respect your opinion and am glad that you voiced it here. I am simply trying to show you a little different perspective on the matter. Hope you understand and take it with the postive attitude that it was meant. -Liz [/IMG]

Very well said, Liz! He gives us such great performances and goes so much above and beyond the call of duty in being with the fans, that it's nice to be able to give something back to him now and then.

to the board arat, and thank you for posting. Sorry to hear you were disappointed. Hard to know what is going on with others sometimes, may be behind the scenes stuff. Since Marty is usually so eager to meet & greet fans, hopefully you have had other more positive encounters. Sounds like the weather and the turnout were a real disappointment, especially since it was a charity event for flood victims. Thanks for posting that link Rachael. Good to read LAGs put on a great show, in spite of the sad weather and turnout.

Thanks for posting that link, Rachael. It's good to know they played their hearts out, even though the turnout wasn't great. I'm saddened that more people didn't support this cause. A big THANK YOU to LA Guns for doing this benefit show to help the flood victims in Iowa. Although I don't live in Iowa, the flooding there hit me in a personal way. A dear friend of mine from the Who fan communities drowned in the flooded river near Cedar Rapids. He was the sweetest, funniest, most wonderful family man, and good friend to all of us on the Who fan boards. So many evenings I sat laughing until my sides hurt from reading the silly things he'd post, like rewrites of Who songs with lyrics about his dog, or farming. He always said he was just an Iowa farm boy, but he meant so much more to all of us. He leaves behind his beloved wife and 2 little boys under the age of 5. It is just heart-rending. So thanks, guys, for doing this show. I am proud of you.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I was so negative I just felt a little let down, maybe I felt sorry for myself. I'm usually not like that. I want to get off on a better foot. I do adore Marty and his voice. I thought the shows highlight was Trees. I was never a fan of LA Guns and I'm not now. I felt Marty did an awesome job at vocals and performance. I just missed his Love hammers songs and Rock star Inxs songs. I think he is so talented, that I felt bad for him for such a small crowd and so many people did not know who he was. I think he should be huge, and I really have faith he will make it some day. I think he needs a top notch manager and get him out there in the limelight. He deserves it much more than a lot of the singers who are popular today. He has real talent, a lot of the stars have manufactured talent. I will always root for Marty!!!

Hi Arat- I am sorry that you had a bad experience with Marty. There is no need to apologize for the way you feel and for what you experienced. Many have had *wonderful* experiences meeting him, and others have not. If despite your negative experience you still enjoy his music, then go with it if you can!!! -Blue

We're glad you're here and gave your review/opinion. We all think like you in that we want that man out there for the world to hear because we think he's talented - and WE'RE ALWAYS RIGHT AROUND HERE!! (I do feel bad about the bad experience. It stinks if you're going to only get to see him once on this tour and it was his "off" night. Thank God he doesn't have too many of those!) I am chomping at the bit for the new cd. My only experience with LA Guns so far is with Marty at the mic so I don't really want to hear their past stuff. (sorry LA Guns fans!) Are you going to see him again this tour? You can always yell at him for dis'ing you and your sis in Iowa!

Wow. I got a link to this comment and it does not sit very well with me. I walked off stage and hung with the 30 or so kids that were there that never saw a rock show before. I gave each one a martycasey.org bracelet that Amy gave me to give it. It was really nice to talk with the kids and ask them what their dreams were: rockstars, actors, helicopter driver, doctors and even one little girl that wanted to be a politician when she grew up. It was really fun to get to talk with them and make it their day. They have been thru alot, some lost their homes in the floods and it was nice that they got to forget about all that and hang with the band. They were my focus. The really troubling thing was that even though the band was really trying to focus on the kids, the older fans would push them aside, walk up and ask for a pix or signature. It was disturbing how little respect their was for the kids having their moment. When those older fans pushed their way to the front to get what they needed it made me really mad. I signed or took the pix they wanted but was really mad that they were interrupting my time with the kids. After that I went into the crowd and hng with everyone for an hour or so. A good friend of mine had driven all the way to Chicago and I got to spend a bit of time reconnecting with home. That felt good. Then I layed down on the grass behind the bus and just stared at the sky. I was tired. I thought we had a really good show and I was tired from the constant touring. I was happy that we could help out with the flood and was disappointed it rained so hard at a fest show. We did what we could.
I was not in a bad mood. I didn't hang out with the fans for well over an hour to "alienate". That is absolutely ridiculous.
I think I remember you. Your sister asked if I remembered taking a pix with her after a show a few years ago. I said I was sorry but I didn't remember. It was a 2 second snapshot taken 2 YEARS AGO. I'm sorry I didn't recall it. I am good at faces but please give me a little leeway there. I don't just say "yea, I remember that" when I don't.
After giving nearly every ounce of energy I have every night this really disappoints me. I love being there and hanging with the fans. I feel "alienated" by this post. I'm gonna let this go but it really tears me up. You give everything you got, always trying to be as gracious as possible and even with that, you get a slap in the face at times.
I'm sorry for my angered post but it really upset me. It's just not fair. I do guarantee I will not forget you and your sister next time...

If you scroll up a bit there is an Apology from Arat for having an off day themselves. And Arat gushes about Marty and his greatness etc etc. How about we let arat have a humanness too?

I agree.....obviously the perspectives here are radically different, which have led to hurt feelings and a terrible misunderstanding. We're human; it happens. May the negativity pass.....

I don't think he saw the apology, he said he got a link to the first comment. Its a shame because she did feel bad afterwards. Oh well.... i hope everyone could just put this aside. Its understandable how tired he is from the constant touring...

Marty Casey Marty, Thanks for popping in and posting a more clear, detailed picture of the scene that was going on that night. It's great that you and the band were able to perform for this benefit and spend time with the kids that were affected by such a devastation. Damn, this "alienation" crap...
