Hi folks! I'm Lee, and I've been lurking around for a little while, but I finally decided to join.
I'm a newbie Marty fan, and I came about being a fan by the fact that this past summer, I had the greatest job in the world! I met several of you, and I had the greatest time. So, what did I do this summer? I was on the crew (merchandise person or "Swag Sl*t", as I liked to call myself) for L.A. Guns (and Faster Pussycat).
Marty was obviously the only guy between both bands that I didn't know previously. All spring long, Chad would be telling me, "we're writing the greatest songs with Marty Casey! It's great having him!" Then, when Paul left, he was like, "we've hired Marty, and it's the greatest thing we've done!" I'm thinking, "ok, I remember this guy being on the INXS show" but I honestly didn't remember HOW he was. I only watched like one episode, but I remember Marty being the one that my sister just LOVED and was rooting for. But to hear Chad that excited, I figured that great things were in the works...I just didn't realize HOW great until I saw it for myself.
Anyway, I saw my first L.A. Guns show with Marty at Rocklahoma, and I was just floored. I've been an L.A. Guns fan for twenty years, and Marty just has "it". He adds new life into the old songs. Not to mention, "Fire It Up" is awesome...one of the best Guns songs in ages!
Just after Rocklahoma, I was hired for the full run, and I have to tell you, it was the greatest summer of my life. Hanging out with some of my dearest friends in LAG and FP every day, making new lifelong friends in Marty and the rest of the crew (big shout out to Cody and Shawn...the unsung heroes of the tour!), and best of all, getting to see two of my favorite bands in the world every night, playing to enthusiastic crowds. I especially loved the crowd reaction to L.A. Guns. With two L.A. Guns bands out there at the moment, the fans could get confused, and every night there'd be a few people who mistakenly thought they were getting the Phil Lewis version. Almost every night, I saw the same thing. The Phil fans would start to walk out disgruntled, and as soon as Marty would open his mouth, they'd turn around and come back. I LOVED that!
Anyway, through working for Marty and the guys, I've come to become a huge fan of his, and that's why I'm now here. And I've got the wristband and necklace to prove it!
