Hey Everyone! Have you ever wanted to see what happens behind the scenes, before a big show? I got the chance to go backstage with L.A. Guns and shoot a photo documentary last month at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. I think the images are beautiful, but more than that, it's fun to see a different side of some of our favorite musicians! www.rockbandlounge.com/news/2008-09-la-guns/

Cheryl, you are the storyteller with your photos...I've noticed the little white fridge and thought how long before Marty would climb on it...and soon he's on it lol I have the feel, you are an invisible photographer there... almost nothing is staged, or at least that's the feeling. I noticed when Marty appeared in the mirror...very clever Very cool!

Cheryl, you are the storyteller with your photos... I love telling a story! And it may not be the same story you'd tell if you documented the same night - we all put our own spin on things - not just with words, but visually as well. How you frame a shot, when you choose to release the shutter - all those choices make a difference. Like one of my favorite transitions - slides 3, 4, and 5 you have Marty and Shawn totally relaxed, and then slide 6 is just full on aggression, and then slide 7 is night and day different - and back to relaxed. I love that! I've noticed the little white fridge and thought how long before Marty would climb on it...and soon he's on it lol Quite intuitive, aren't you?! But it was a big refrigerator! One of those really old ones that it's hard to close, and is totally inefficient, but looks super cool... I have the feel, you are an invisible photographer there... almost nothing is staged, or at least that's the feeling. It was meant to be full on fine art documentary, so I was just to shoot what was, and influence nothing. But.... when you're in the moment, it's hard not for the people you're shooting to notice you, and turn and smile or mug for the camera, and some of those moments definitely made it into the final cut. But those moments happened because of them - I wasn't pushing or prodding or suggesting anything. So it's not true documentary, but it's pretty close, and I like it better this way! I noticed when Marty appeared in the mirror...very clever I LOVE playing with reflections! One of my favorite themes...

And thank you very much for your generosity with the fans. I'm the one who should be thanking all of you! I love creating the work most of all, but getting it seen is a close second - and the fact that all of you are so generous with your love is beyond cool!

I wasn't pushing or prodding or suggesting anything. Okay, I just remembered that's not totally true. There was one moment where I did try to set up something, but it didn't make the final cut - so I guess that proves once again, that real moments, are better than the setup ones!

Real interesting shots. Nice work! I was starting to get bored of the usual stage/concert shots of Marty. Your pictures really do tell a story.

Thank you Cheryl! Backstage montage is so refreshing. It is really interesting to see Marty & the band interact off-stage. You captured the feeling and let us in on it. Thank you!
