I thought it might be fun to see what songs, of all the LH songs are everyone's favorites...so, if you could pick 11 songs to go on a Greatest Hits CD for the Lovehammers what would they be? And which version if there are more than one.
Here's mine! (though they seem to change every week!)
1. Straight As An Arrow (old version) 2. Sky Is Falling 3. Casualty 4. The Tunnel (new version) 5. Eyes Can't See (old version) 6. Faded Grey 7. Better Off (Walk Away) 8. Throw My Head 9. Sleeper 10. The Riddle 11. Ultrasound! (DVD version)

Starlight Lady 5. The Tunnel (also MOMM) 6. Eyes Can't See 7. Clouds 8. Velvet 9. Real Man 10. Over And Out 11.This Town 12. Low-Life Insurance (Let's Get Wasted) 13. Hold On 14. Trees Okay - I'm a failure. 14. I've already cut 4, I've failed Lovehammers 101 - I'll have to take it all over again... But it was fun trying. :-)

My ultimate collection would include: Straight As An Arrow (Accordind to Marty, they didn't touch the original Steve Albini produced version of SAAA for the new album -- I don't believe him btw.. My ears tell me something different) The Tunnel (Old Version) Eyes Can't See (Old Version) How We Live Sky Is Falling Faded Grey Clinic This Town Call Of Distress (Old Version) Starlight Lady Hold On (Old Version) Only 11? I'd definitely have a double album. I'd also definitely have Steve Albini produce the entire album. Maybe the very ultimate would be to have a live studio album. What attracted me to this band in the first place was its energy and if you can't translate that into the recording, you're missing a lot of what this band is about IMO.

We need a box set with all the recordings. I don't want so-called enhanced versions of the old songs either. I want the raw original recording.

In no particular order:
1. Faded Grey 2. Low-Life Insurance 3. The Tunnel(MOMM version) 4. Clinic 5. Real Man 6. Confusion 7. Ultrasound 8. Straight as an Arrow 9. Into the Deep 10. Over and Out 11. This Town
That was hard, and I'm probably missing a favorite or two of mine.

Hi! I'm usually just lurking around here, but this was so good I had to respond!!! I am deviating from the majority here, but these are my faves:
1. Bulletholes 2. Never Forget 3. Casualty 4. Ultrasound 5. Straight As an Arrow 6. The Tunnel (the new version) 7. Better Off (Walk Away) 8. Wait for Noone 9. Velvet 10. Sleeper 11. Eyes Can't See
I do like the box set idea, however!

Everything that I heard acoustic on the indiebandradio marathon, especially Straight As an Arrow. Maybe that's the old version people speak of??? I absolutely love the "Gimme some, gimme some" and the little sidetrack with the Marty yeehaw !! at the end of one of the live versions of The Riddle! I really miss hearing that on the new CD! (Was that from the Twisted 12 concert?) Definitely would need Bulletholes which is my favorite du jour. Got to have Better Off Walk Away. Got to have Clinic (Let me out!) and Let's Get Wasted. Absolutely must have Real Man and Velvet. And I Alone and Lithium, Creep and Hit Me Baby. (Ok, I know that Billy, Dino and Bobby would have to have time to learn those....best to get started on the bus then!) Ummm, am I at 11 yet?? Oops...forgot to add Ultrasound.

OK - My Ultimate CD has a couple of bonus tracks (at least - as I listen to L'Strange more, I may have to add - keeping it at 11 is well nigh impossible - I can't come up with 2 to take off the list!! ;D
Probably new versions, unless specified otherwise - although I don't think I have strong preference - I've listened to MOMM, L'Strange and MC&LH and love them all!!
1. Casualty 2. Eyes Can't See (old version) 3. The Riddle 4. Velvet 5. Clinic 6. Trees (am I the only one?? - I really do like it - even if it does evoke images from Lord of the Rings!!)
7. Call of Distress 8. UltraSound 9. Real Man 10. Rain on the Brain 11. Sleeper 12. Straight as an Arrow (old) 13. Clouds
