In July 2006, the founding team of seven staff members opened KIPP LEAD College Prep Charter School in Gary, IN, serving 90 fifth graders. This group of 90 fifth graders are known as the "Class of 2014," which is the year they will attend college. By July 2010, KIPP LEAD will serve over 360 students in fifth through eighth grade. KIPP LEAD will provide an environment where students can develop the knowledge, character, and leadership skills necessary to graduate from college and be successful in the world beyond. Unlike the short-lived trail of light left by a shooting star, Marty’s star is shining brightly in a galaxy of his own. Immediately following the Rock Star finale, Marty and his band, Lovehammers were signed to legendary music manager Doc McGhee and inked a major label record deal with Sony/Epic. Marty began writing and recording what would become their critically acclaimed debut album, Marty Casey and Lovehammers.
