A Christmas Gift From Me to My Friends Here
at MartyCasey.org I wanted to compose and perform a song appropriate to the season, but also reflects these anxious times many of us are now going through. I've always liked the folk Christmas song Ukrainian Bell Carol and this being MartyCasey.org I incorporated something appropriate to this setting as well.
This piece started out with an improvisation around Ukrainian Bell Carol, then Just Go whose melody caught my ear. I transposed them both to B flat minor, then imposed the improvised rhythm of my Bell Carol onto Just Go. While practicing the piece, I finally settled on a faster rate to increase tension.
The end result is a bit folk, a bit Marty, and a lot of Iwo
It was a lot of work getting it to its final recorded version, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

What a wonderful gift!  I love it! Carol of the Bells has always been my favorite Christmas song too. I love the changes and the blending of the 2 pieces. It really moved me. Thank you for such a special gift, it is truly beautiful.  Sharon |

Thank you Sharon and Isa ! It was like a battle in my brain lol Normally I would consider something "softer" and melancholy for Christmas but with all the news out there had to show the frustration within...I still left the ending more hopeful though  |

Oh my, oh my... IWO, thank you so much for this generous gift. It has filled me up with encouraging thoughts tonight. A soothing piece for me, who has had a less than a memorable year - it tells me that what's happening now and in the next little bit of now is what matters most.
