It was wonderful seeing everyone at this show! Can't believe it has been almost a year since the last show at Shaker's. Where did the year go?!?!? It was great to see Nancy & Duane two nights in a row, as well as Rachel, Christine, K and her special guy, Cherrytattoo (my usual travel buddy who had to meet me there this time - that was strange), ladyslipperlady and her friend Cici (or is it Cece?), and of course my good friend Yak who was my travel buddy this time. I was also so surprised and happy to see that Stehanie and Susie decided to make a crazy whirlwind trip to Cambridge as well. It was so good to see you both.
I don't have much to add to what has already been said but have to agree that Marty's voice is sounding fabulous. Obviously, I have always been a fan of Marty's voice, even when when it seems "imperfect" at times - it is just so real and elicits such emotions when combined with the song he is singing. Marty's voice is very rich and full now and he seems to be using a different range when he sings some songs. It seems to me that he brings out even deeper feelings when he sings. I can't remember which song he was singing but he had his eyes closed for most of the song and really just seemed to get lost singing the song so beautifully. For those who haven't heard a solo show yet, you really should try to get to one. They are a truly wonderful side to this very talented, mutli-faceted man who gives us his all no matter who he is performing with.

It sure was an amazing evening. Of course Marty was great but it is so nice to meet up with others at the show that I already know - but to also meet some new Marty fans as well, Nancy and Duane, Willey7 and cgs2007-( how did the test go ?) and k's friend too.
As Jodi and others have said the solo show is an amazing experience. I love that it is just Marty and his guitar, very simple but very powerful indeed. He seems to touch alot of people with his songs. Me included, I just love Sleeper and to see him do it was something. I can't wait to see all of Nancy's pics. The few she showed me that night were great. Can't wait for the next show!

I just love "Honest I'll Wait". It is such a powerful, moving song, not only in the lyrics and music, but also in Marty's vocals. For those who haven't heard it yet, the feeling of the song is somewhat like one of my favorite U2 songs, "With Or Without You", except that "Honest I'll Wait" has even more of a sense of longing and yet hope in it. Marty's vocals are every bit as strong as Bono's now (if not even stronger!). Whatever he's doing--voice training, practice, etc.--I hope he keeps doing it, because it's getting amazing results for him. At one of Marty's recent shows in Illinois, he said that "Be The One" was the song that he and Dino had been working on, and it would be on the new LH CD, only in a different form than the way he was performing it. At the LA Guns show in Green Bay in June, Marty said that "Black Majesty" was one of the new LA Guns songs. The other new LA Guns song they played that night was called "The Sound". They had to stop playing those on tour, because people were taking video and putting it up on the web without permission. They didn't want the new songs to be premiered that way. Other than those songs, I'm not sure which songs will be going to which project.

They had to stop playing those on tour, because people were taking video and putting it up on the web without permission. They didn't want the new songs to be premiered that way. Obviously the decision of how they release a song is up to them, but it's 2008 and controlling things like that is very difficult with the internet and other technology. Many other bands which I also follow have showed it is better to embrace it rather than fight it. I'm surprised they didn't perform mostly new stuff in their appearances to promote it. It is very difficult to get radio air play, so live performances (for the lucky few) are the only way people will hear it. A crappy video on youtube will never be a real alternative to a studio recording. The opportunity to hear something new and see it's evolution, on the other hand, would keep the buzz alive and possibly bring in some new fans. IMHO technology ... if you can't beat it, join it.

Willev7/Rachel..........thanks for putting that out. Marty was incredibly generous to share some stage time with me, particularly after what could have been a real "train wreck" the previous night at Cardo's.........and I wouldn't even have known it. For whatever reason, I had no microphone audio in the stage monitor and couldn't hear what I was singing. All I could do was try and work the sound "in my head" and pray that it wasn't too far off. Those who were there probably saw me gesticulating to try and get it going, and all that did was get some feedback probably through Marty's guitar. The sound guy came up after the show to apologize and I said that having done some sound work over the years, I understood how sometimes "stuff" happens. Shaker's was better, I could actually hear it a bit. Two very delightful evenings - TNX to Marty again and willev7 (BTW, got a PM coming to you through YouTube). HH

Thanks for sharing that Rach. It's so cool to see Duane up there with Marty. What a special moment for him! Thank you! You know it's funny, I thought I might have been more nervous about it but not really so much. I think that was some good "Marty-vibes" helping out.........well, and maybe the one beer I had didn't hurt HH
