I know it seems late but I literally only arrivied home at 2:30am Monday morning. I am not sure I can add anything that hasn't been said already, but here goes. I arrivied in Chicago Saturday night the 27th about 8pm. I have grown to love the city so much that it feels so good to just be there. We spent Sunday and Monday just riding the train and running around downtown. The weather was really nice, cold but really sunny. We decided to try someplace new to eat, someplace besides West Egg, which of course is always good but there are so many places we decided on, Eleven City Diner. They serve breakfast anytime and a wide variety of foods on the menu. With the style and atmosphere of the old style diner, both the food and the service was fantastic, with quite reasonable prices. It was so good we ate there twice while we were in town. Friends began arriving Tuesday afternoon and evening. It was so good seeing so many dear friends. Friends it had been awhile since I'd seen. When the doors opened I went directly to the front of the stage to take the spot I would be in until the Lovehammers left the stage. The first band was not what I expected but they were really good and a great show starter. When the guys came out and started all I could think was, how great it was to be there for the third year. I was eager to hear the Lovehammer catalogue again, it had been a year and I love their music so much. I was really surprized they played 'Honest I'll Wait', which I love and had never heard before Tuesday morning on WGN from the comfort of my hotel room bed. ;D The show was wonderful and it was so good to hear them again. I was lucky enough to get to say hi to each of the guys before the night was over and to spend plenty of partying time with lots of my favorite people, Hammerheads & fangirls! Oh what a night!

I took a much needed break from my computer, so my review is a little late.
This was the third year in a row my friends and I have spent NYE with the Lovehammers. We actually made it downstairs early enough to get a spot in the very front. I took my son to see Lovehammers at the HOB in March. Of course, he was absolutely blown away, but I have to admit I left feeling like something was missing. The energy wasn't the same at that show. Whatever was missing it was back on NYE. Marty, Dino, Bob and Billy all looked relaxed and excited to be back on a stage together. I don't think Dino ever stopped smiling, and I loved seeing the interaction between Marty and Dino on stage especially. I loved the mix of older songs, new songs and, of course, the LH cover of The Who's classic "Baba O'Riley". Marty was all over the place as usual. He sang a couple of songs on the box that was right in front of us. Then, he reached for my hand when he cliimbed out into the audience for help over the railing. I hope he will always be able to climb out into the audience. I agee that the time on the road has given Marty an opportunity to explore his vocal range and expressiveness. I heart this when I saw him at the solo show at the Arboretum. His voice keeps getting better. Dino, Bob and Billy all sounded amazing. In all, like I said to Bob later, this was the single best Lovehammers show since the first time I saw them at the Metro on Black Wednesday.
I look forward to more chances to see Lovehammers again in 2009. I agree with Marty that 2009 is the year of not letting fear of anyone or anything getting in the way of what we want to do or who we want to be.

Chicago is one of my favorite places. It always feels like I'm coming home when I am in Chicago.
Steph, I associate my computer with work because one of my jobs is as an online writing tutor, so being away from the computer is like being away from the office for me. I have my cell phone to keep in touch with my closest friends. The five days I was away was probably the longest for me though as I do miss the part of my computer where all my friends are.

Thanks Sharon!! It was fantastic seeing you and doing the city and stuff. Portillos or whatever it was called was AWESOME!
The show WAS awesome. I about died when they played "Over and Out" and Honest, I'll Wait
Awesome is a total understatement.
Judy- It was super duper cool to meet you, even though brief. And I am glad you came up to the Hammerparty!
I am ready for another show....crossing fingers and toes that they do a CD release party.

Everyone was so great on NYE! It was nice to see faces that I have not seen in a long time. Well Sharon, lets hope its not that long for the next get-together! I still say that there should be a HAMMERS/GUNS co headline tour. But it probably WOULD kill our Marty. Too much energy being spilled night after night...... If there is a CD release party for either band, I will be there!
