Rob and I rented it and just finished watching it. I really liked it . I wasn't sure that I would since most of the Raves I have heard so far are from teen age girls. But it was very romantic. It am not too fond of alot of blood and guts and gore type movies and this was not like your usual Vamp movie. I am anticipating the sequel now Did anyone else see it and what did you think? Good or bad..

I was waiting to see if anyone would post on this. My 15 year old cousin would not stop talking about these books so I finally broke down and bought them. I was taken in immediately and ultimately intrigued by the story of young love. I am a hopeless romantic at heart and a cynic by nature. I have always been captivated with vampire stories. I don't know why. I am not much of a sci fi girl, but vampires are sexy. I can't explain it. I was discussing the phenomenon of these books with my dad, also an avid reader and we decided the popularity is surrounded by the "love" story. This is a love story plain and simple. Almost an old fashioned romance. Not the trashy, sex filled books and movies that attract so much attention. But the "Butterflies in the stomach, longing gaze across the room, intense romance". I am almost Thirty and I am not embarrassed to say I loved the books. I have read them all TWICE. The movie was good, Kristen Stewart rocks, but the books were better. The previews for the next movie "New Moon" looks really good! Janell

I have thought about getting the books, I quite liked the film, but thought it was a little slow at first. The different take on vampires were, lets say, different, but cool I agree with you Janell - it is more about the love that you feel with the gazes and butterflies And yes, vampires are sexy - I decided that with Underworld, buffy confirmed it and now this! 3 different types but all very sexy!

My oldest daughter and my nieces are into Twilight, so I've been reading the books. I still need to read the last one - Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer is a compelling storyteller. I really got a sense of the town of Forks. I liked reading about the personal histories behind each Cullen and the werewolf legends too. I too think the love story is what really makes the books popular, esp. with the younger crowd. As unrealistic as it might be, it still captivates the reader. I have to be honest though....Bella's constant "damsel-in-distress" thing gets a bit old for me. Oh well, I'm critical.... My niece recently got some Twilight paraphernalia for her b-day, and one of the items was a "Team Jacob" bracelet. If I were her age, I'd wear one of those too! LOL

Well my boys loved the book and the movie and I didn't like it.
I think the story itself is a good idea but the storyteller does absolutely nothing with her characters. I continued to read the series in the hopes that she would build them into people with some semblance of a personality but no...the only character who got any treatment at all was Jacob.
I understand that it is a love story geared towards teenagers and I am so glad I don't have a daughter who wants to use Bella as a role model!
One of the best things about the book was it got my 17 year old son reading

From your post Jet - does that mean Bella will be the same in the next film? I guess I'll have to wait & see.
