RIP Les Paul Guitar Legend-Inventor Les Paul passed today at 94. Without him, there wouldn’t be any Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Jimmy Page, you name it. He set the Rock Revolution in motion with his innovations on the electric guitar (Fender & Gibson) and in the recording studio (multi track recording). He didn’t invent the electric guitar, BUT is widely credited with having done so. He's so well respected in the music industry. The Music World loses another Great Musician. In his late 80’s, the man still kicked it and played at a Jazz Club in NYC! Check out his compilation CD: Les Paul & Friends “American Made World Played”. My favorite, Johnny Goo, of the GGD plays his rendition of U2’s “All I want is you!” aloha, KP

Dang, somebody beat me to it......here's my short version but there is no way that you can, in 100,000 words or less, BEGIN to cover the legacy that Les Paul left behind for those of us who follow in his quite large-to-fill footsteps.....
(posted to several places):
Every one of us who has ever picked up a solid-body electric guitar or recorded on a multi-track device lost the father of our art - Les Paul passed away today at the age of 94. An AP wire story quotes Joe Satriani as calling Les Paul "the original guitar hero" adding, "Les Paul set a standard for musicianship and innovation that remains unsurpassed".
Even into his 90's, he still played in some of New York's night spots, often joined by guitar greats such as Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen and Eddie VanHalen.
Other top guitar players who used the Gibson guitar known as the "Les Paul" include jazz great Al DiMeola, Steve Howe of Yes and one of the most notable, Pete Townshend of the WHO.
Musician, inventor, Grammy award winner Les Paul is gone at the age of 94.

Everyone who loves rock owes Les Paul a huge debt of gratitude. R.I.P. to a true original.
