Today we received an email at MartyCasey.org from Miriam, a very dear friend of Paula Kuchen's:

This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day. I sent an earlier email saying that I was going to be a volunteer crew member. My mistake. I AM GOING TO WALK AND WALK AND WALK.

I am walking in honor of my own mother Charleen Hoffman who died of colon cancer in 1994 and in honor of my friend Paula Kuchen who is battling this dreadful disease right now. For more of Paula's story, you can read my blog at www.myspace.com/mimh.


I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. I've set my personal goal at $10,000. AMBITIOUS, right? So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? Please take a look at the donation form and designate the amount that's right for you. Please keep in mind how far I'm walking -- and how hard I'll have to train. I know that my efforts are nothing compared with what women go through with this disease. I have seen it up close and truly realize the devastation it brings.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me -- by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

Please forward this to your friends as well. We need all the help we can get. Every step no matter how small is a step in the right direction.

I emailed Holly (ndmuse) about this and see what she says. I had corresponded with her early this morning and she indicated she was going to make your post an annoucement over there. But it looks like something happened to the post because she and I both saw it this morning. Let's see what her reply is back to me.

I know Marty is a big supporter of this. He just emailed us back this morning and gave us permission to feature the fundraiser on the front page of MartyCasey.org so I really don't think your post got intentionally deleted at the Lovehammers board...

Hi Cindy - I saw Rubi's post early this morning & I even copied it and posted it at our new Snark location. I was a bit confused when I read the post from Holly wanting to know what had happened to it. It had been an announcement and there was even a response from Palari there. It's a mystery at this point, but the message has been reposted & is an announcement.

I read the blog entries. It is nice to know that so many people are doing what they can.

Please, please remember that NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL! If all you can afford is $1 or $5, then it can be put to good use....and appreciated more than you could possibly know.

Keep it up everyone and Mim will reach her goal. There is also a place for matching donations from companies. Check if your employer will match your donation, a lot of businesses do.

Hi Everyone!!

I'm Nancy from Team MiG. We wanted you all to know that Paula really touched MiG profoundly and to honor her memory and her life we have taken up a collection to help sponsor Mim and Sam in the Cancer Walk. We will be collecting donations until April 15th. I'll be meeting with Mim and Sam to give them our total and a card from Team MiG.

So far the response has been wonderful. I'll let you guys know our total on the 15th!! We are so proud to be able to participate and help such a worthy cause.
