Hi Everyone.
During the CD buying/ 10 friend wisper week there was some talk about sending CD's to the troops overseas. I have contacted a woman at a website called Operation Gratitude out of Sacramento California. I gave her a little info about the band and the Hammerheads in general.
She replied to my e-mail immediately and said she had just heard something about the Lovehammers! See reply letter below. They are a non-profit group which puts together care packages 2x's per year to send over.
My thought was for anyone who had CD's they bought and want to spread the love this would be a great cause. The website talks about how the troops love getting letters. I am going to send over 2 CD's and two letters thanking the troops and telling them about the band and this website.
The current care package drive ends June 15.
I was also thinking if enough of us send/buy CD's maybe the guys would include some letters. What a great morale booster and promo opportunity at the same time. I e-mailed Dino about this... so we'll see.
This morning I listened to the CD trying to hear it from the perspective of a soldier... I was in tears with Casualty, HOld On, The Tunnel and Rain.
the website is: www.opgratitude.com
The address to send stuff is as follows:
Operation Gratitude
16444 Refugio Road
Encino, California 91436
Here was her reply to my e-mail.
"Thank you for contacting me and for your interest in supporting the troops through Operation Gratitude! I love your ideas! I could swear I just heard or read something about Lovehammers...and would be delighted to have copies of the CDs and assorted paraphernalia for our care packages. I am going to send our general support information to you. Frankly, since we have to sort through and merge all donations with all other donations on our end, I think the easiest approach (certainly for you!) would be to urge people to send everything directly to us. Please note too that from now through June 15, most Checkers/Rally's restaurants in the country are acting as Drop Off Sites, so supporters can bring their items to the restaurants and Checkers/Rallys will arrange the shipping to us in California.
Please let me know if you need additional information!
Thank you again for your thoughtfulness.
Fondly,
Carolyn
