OK, Im totally pissed off with a friend of mine who told me LH are not good enough to get any of their songs into the Top 10 in USA or Oz. It all started when I sent out emails to all my friends to check out my new myspace page. Of course my page highlights Lovehammers and my Welsh ponies. She emails me back and says never heard of Lovehammers and obviously they will never make a top 10 song as they dont have the talent like her faves, Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Shakira, Jessica Simpson, Sugababes. BLAHHHHH I told her that her faves are all manufactured crap, don't write their own songs and not one of them plays a musical instrument! They pay someone else to do all that for them and they just get up and sing with very little clothing on to make their $$$$. Well needless to say, she has been crossed off my Xmas card list and I told her that the Lovehammers are TRUE musicians and do it all themselves, she saw where I was coming from but wouldn't give in. She can have her pop crap she listens too, where will they all be in 10 years, they will be nobody's. Marty casey and Lovejhammers will still be going STRONG My apologies to anyone who likes the above pop singers/bands, these are my thoughts entirely and you are free to disagree with me. I'd love to know what others think on this matter as I would love to print out the replies to this thread and shove them in my so-called friends face! Cheers, Helen.

Hey Helen, How old is your friend? I can't believe there any adults who listen to the "music" she quoted. You seem to have summed it up pretty well. Pussycat Dolls? C'mon, they were literally a burlesque act!!! man that is some bad taste -- styled-up chicks singing inane pop with no meaning, no talent and no clothes.
So, she doesn't like Hammers... well, that's more Marty for us, mate!

Helen--
When our friends have really different taste than us it does sometime make you wonder sometimes. I had a friend ask me if I'd go with her to the Barry Manilow concert in Vegas. I thought she was joking at first but she was serious. I'm so glad I didn't follow my first instinct and guffaw in her face! (And no I didn't go to the concert with her!)
As chk says more hammers for us!
Cheers!
Carol

She has a 10 year old son so I don't think he is the one pushing her towards that type of music, she just has bad taste! Helen.

I'd see Manilow in concert if given a chance! He's a legendary talent. But that's the key word....talent. Jessica Simpson and the Pussycat Dolls, not so much.

It is tough when your friends do not like your style in music. Here is my take on it. I happen to be a fan of just about any type of music there is except country (however, there are a few exceptions). My 2 favorite artists are Lovehammers and Prince. You could not get much more diffrent. But what they have in common, they are both TRUE artists. The Lovehammers play every instrument you hear in thier albus and they write thier own songs. Prince himself can play nearly every instrument known to man and he writes his own songs. This is what sets them apart from "manufactured" sounds like the pop pysingers you mentioned. I do like those poppy singers myself and I appriciate thier ability to sing (cause lord knows I cannot) and look good doing it.... but they are all a far cry from being a REAL artist. And yes, I have even been known to listen to me some Barry Manilo. I like all music.

I listen to all sort of music myself. And I was a big Manilow fan 20 years ago. Just wouldn't want to pay to see him today. Other groups are so much higher on my list. I also listen to top 40 music. Sometimes its like cotton candy. Not satisfying for long but fun while it lasts. I wouldn't buy an album by many of the artists but some songs are catchy--others definitely cause me to change the station.
I was more commenting on the fact that sometimes you think you know someone and you share a lot of things in common and then they surprise you. Out of all the music that I thought my friend would want to go see--I just would not have thought Manilow. Which is why I thought she was kidding. You'd have to see her and meet her to understand why it came out of left field for me.
Thank goodness there's room in the world for all sorts of people and tastes. It makes it interesting. Right?

What I don't get is why people need to make fun of, or simply trash someone else's taste in music (as long as it isn't downright offensive or harmful). I have a couple of people who are pretty tired of me talking about Lovehammers--one is a good friend that I bought the new CD for, and she has actually made some unflattering comments about it. I still think she would like the music if she saw the band live, and to that end, one day I will treat her to a concert! My family is giving me a pretty hard time (in a sort of good-natured joking kind of way) about my obsession with LH, and tell me I'm going through my "second childhood". However, again, I'll be treating my daughter to HammerJam in October--I think one live concert speaks for itself!!
I don't know--I guess what I'm saying is you can show your friend all the posts you want, but I doubt it will change her mind about the LH. Maybe just focus on trying to let her know she hurt your feelings (or offended you) with her comments about LH and their potential for the future. Just my opinion..........I'd rather talk about Lovehammers with someone who loves them as much as I do rather than waste energy on arguing with people who simply have different taste in music than I do.

Yes, linda, you have hit the nail on the head so to speak. I didn't make fun of her choice in music, I have actually downloaded a couple of those artists songs as now and again you want to listen to some pop/dance music. What annoyed me in what she was saying was the point that if a song didn't make it to the Top 20 then the band/singer was not good enough to sell music or have a huge fan base and because she had never heard of them then they mustn't be very good. I asked her to listen to one of my CD's and she refused, she said she would hear their songs if they were ever good enough to get in the Top 20, then she would consider them talented. I have given up on her, if she only wants to listen to what is in the Top 20 she is missing out on so much. Her loss! Like you all say, all the more for us Hammerheads, we are the winners here as we are lucky enough to know and LOVE the Lovehammers Cheers, Helen.

Taylor wins American Idol and his single is playing on the radio the very next day. Is his song on the radio because he is a more talented musician? Nope! It's on because of the contract with AI and people are forced to hear it (no offense to Taylor ) whether they like it or not. No one was calling to request it to get it air time. Please Epic, do some radio promoting. LH's are worthy of a bigger break!

ditto to more promotions and publicity!!! got a few friends who have the same negative reaction ... even my own husband! i choose to just ignore their comments and leave them be. i give random updates on how well the band is doing, especially in Manila (charting in two major stations!) and i'd get a bland reaction. so i continue to ignore. to each his own right? but hear this, one of my friends texted me to say she heard this Marty Casey song on the radio (Trees). Said "they're not so bad after all"... And I think i might have finally converted my husband too. Over the weekend, he drove my car with my daughter and me at the backseat. he switched from radio to CD and of course, MCLH's Casualty blared through! thought he'd switch back to FM, but no... when it came to Trees, he pumped the volume a bit... and so it went until the very last song... I had my eyes closed the whole time... maybe he thought I was sleeping... but i caught his head bobbing to Eyes Can't See! i guess it takes some time for some people to catch on. but the Lovehammers DO have good music, it's what will win people over! gotta have faith!

That is what is so great about iPods and mp3 players. While my co-workers are listening to the Carpenters and Barry Manilow, I'm listening to Ultrasound and MOMM. We are all happy. Apples and Oranges. When I was Street Teaming the INXS concert here in Indy, there were so many people that would love to hear Marty and his band. They had no idea that he had a band and that they had a CD out and gladly took a flyer to get more info. Hopefully the CD sampler that NancyBBE supplied helped too to let them hear what they can't hear here on the radio. The MCLH CD is a sampling of the past. There are so many new songs that Marty and the boys have written that we have yet to hear. I can't wait. Meanwhile, we need to keep spreading the word and requesting their songs. It's just a matter of time. Den

I know Marty said he trusts Doc McGhee and is happy with Sony/Epic but I really, really don't get the utter lack of promotion. The true test will be what they do whenever they release a new CD and/or when they go on tour (which I hope is soon!).

Hey Wendy, TOTALLY agree, there has been no promotion whatsoeva from Epic/Sony, very disappointed. What is going to happen when they finally start to get airplay and promo time. LH are gonna be huge. But we won't have them all to ourselves anymore, our fabulous secret will be out forever. No more intimate shows etc, we will be fighting everyone, but we can sit back and say "I TOLD YOU SO" ROCK ON LOVEHAMMERS, world wide fame awaits Helen

I was watching VH1 late last night, and on came a celebreality show called "SuperGroup." They took five well-known musicians (including Ted Nugent and Sebastian Bach), put them in a house together, and now they are trying to turn them into a band. What a mess.
One thing they decided to do was call themselves "Fist", which irritated their manager ... DOC MCGHEE.
Yes, the same Doc McGhee, who doesn't look anything like I expected him to. He also seems pretty savvy about the music business. But there he was, on TV promoting and handling a bunch of burned out wackos. I really, really, really hope he is serious about MCLH.
