Some thoughts I had on the subject:

"This could also be a problem in off-stage contact, too. Overbearing physical contact from fans could cause them to shut off ALL contact, and ALL meet and greets.

No one wants that to happen! Everyone should be respectful of Marty's dignity as a person, and his right to not be put into situations that may be uncomfortable for him. He is so polite that he wouldn't necessarily tell a fan to back off, but Dan and the other guys can read his body language, and can tell when a fan is 'crossing the line'.

Please--no one put your own 'desires' ahead of the rights of not only Marty, but also all the other fans who are waiting their turn in line, and the fans in the future who might miss out on all meet and greets if people don't control their behavior.

I hope everyone takes this to heart."

I'd just like to add that love and adoration should always be accompanied by courtsey and respect. How sad it would be if fans had to kept away from Marty and the guys to protect them.

I was on LH.com and found a little more detailed explaination on the request to respect the band members.

Directly from Dan:

Anyway, the grabbing marty thing may be a little misunderstood, When Marty is on a monitor or close to the edge of the stage I don't want arms around his legs. The reason for this is that he is very eradic (no idea how to spell that, lol) when he moves, so if he moves back or forward quickly, he could lose his balance. There are cables usually on the front of the stage as you have all seen take up the space for your drinks. If he wants to put himself in harms way by climbing, well I usually try to get close incase something goes wrong, but that is his choice. I would never let anything happen to him or any of the guys, that is why I am asking this to be done. Touch all you want, be tasteful and respectful to him.

As for personal time, nobody means to invade his time nor does he see it as an invasion but when he is hanging out with friends or family and not really talking to fans at the time, let him be. You know the whole band loves attention and loves their fans. They make more time for everyone than I have ever see any other band do. So give them their personal space when you feel they need it. They arent going anywhere, if you miss them at a show, they will be back, you will see them again, so dont worry.

I admire each and every one of you and all the fans of the guys, you are all the most dedicated people I have ever seen, you all blow away any other fan base I have seen locally and nationally. We don't want to get to the point of cutting off contact or limiting it greatly because of a danger to the band or anything like that.

I have been with these guys for almost 10 years and they love the interaction with everyone and will not EVER stop doing it UNLESS something drives them to. Please be aware that this is not just coming from me, it comes from the whole band. If they had a house big enough to invite everyone back to after every show, they would. But shit, they dont even have a house, lol.

Please stop attacking each other, we are all here for the same reason, I dont care what board you are from, what state or even what country, get along, this wont last forever, so why make it bad for someone else.

And if someone talks bad about you or your friends, who cares, let em talk. Be the bigger person and ignore them. My Mom always told me not to care what anyone else says about you that is negative. So listen to my Mom, she is a smart cookie!



Lets have a great year, get along and listen to the music, after all, this is what we ALL are here for, right?

Thanks for posting that. I didn't see that before. But I definately think that people should respect the guys. We definately do not any of the guys to get hurt in any way. And we most definately do not want the meet and greets to stop. That would really suck!

Very nicely said by Dan. He may not be able to spell erratic, but his email was quite nice and sets a nice tone for the band and how they view his fans. I'd want him on my team, too.
