This is so very sad--the neat old theater where the Habitat for Humanity concert was held in Owosso last August has burned down! lovehammersforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=225104#225104I have some wonderful memories from that show and that nice little town. I wonder if there's anything we Hammerheads can do to help the folks there?

I heard about this today on the radio. Sad news...My favorite concert of 2006 was there. Why was it my favorite? Here is why. As a birthday present for my daughter, I took her and two of her friends up for Lovehammer concert. It was one of the last minute plans where everything fell into place. Got tickets, got the last hotel room, arrived in Owosso without getting lost...everything went perfect. I will admit I was a little worried at the start of the trip...whenever they all spend the night I lay awake listening to them giggle, run up and down the stairs and be typical teenage girls. We arrived in Owosso early...had to wait to check in. Walked around the town...got some pics in front of the theater. The girls decided they wanted to swim. We had the pool to ourselves which was really cool. They were able to burned a lot of energy swimming and singing. What were they singing? Why "Trees" of course. Man did they sound good. I really am not biased and wish I had a Video recorder...never knew they could sound so good. After the swim and showers we ordered Marco's Pizza and got ready to rock. Ashley's two friends were not only Hammer Virgins...they were Concert Virgins. They all loved the show and were convinced that Marty was singing to each of them. Didn't have the heart to tell them he was singing to me. Of course the boys rocked the house. I don't think I need to mention that. After the show we went back to hotel and the girls were exhausted. They fell fast asleep. What did I do? I laid awake listening to everyone else run up and down the hall and giggling waiting for the elevator. The whole experience made it the best concert of 2006...at least in my book. From the drive up, the tour of the town, the great show and last but certainly not least...spending time with three beautiful girls who are like sisters. Seeing the joy in their faces before, during and after the concert were well worth the trip. The Lebowsky Center may be destroyed...but the memory of it...and that wonderful night will forever be etched in my mind.

Thank you Hammeredinfrogtown for sharing that story, it sounds like a perfect trip! I didn't get to go, but I got a cellcert from Cyberocn and my friends and I put it on speakerphone and sang into the phone along with the rest of the audience, it was such good energy there, you could feel it through the phone!
I hope that they can rebuild it.

Never knew the building but I appreciate and love all old structures so this is very sad indeed. I hope it can be saved and renovated for all concerned. Cheers, Helen

I heard about this today on the radio. Sad news...My favorite concert of 2006 was there. Why was it my favorite? Here is why. (please see the post for rest) Hi Hammeredinfrogtown:I loved your account of Owosso and your daughter's birthday and her friends...That was so great of you!!!! Thanks for sharing!! I was planning on road-trip to that concert but then they scheduled much closer to me in Madison Wisconsin...Yeah--is hard when the place you had a great time in burned down..the hall where my little sister had her reception and dance also burned down--Her hubby sang her a song bless his heart--did pretty good too. But the hall my hubby and I had is still standing--It was an old building when we got married and certainly looks a bit rough now though... I am a student of energy phenomenon and healing etc. and IMO and experience, old buildings seem to take on a certain "energy" to them from those who pass through them and the activities in them..and, just as an aside, are , more likely to have ghosts in them of some sort or other... I enjoyed the Aragon building in Chicago in Dec. of 2005 Lovehammer concert--it was like a giant castle with stars on the ceiling and loaded with character too...

This is sad to hear. What terrible news for everyone who has great memories of attending the Lovehammers show and for the OCP. Thanks for posting those links Trees.

Devastating news about the fire. I read the article thanx Trees for that and pics, thanx Lisa too for pics. It's always a tragedy to lose part of out history. My heart goes out to the community that put so much work into this theater. I am happy for those of you that saw a LH show there. You will always have your own personal memories of the building.

This is certainly sad news. This was the site of my first Lovehammers headline show. The old theater had such character. It needed some TLC but it could have been something great again. It seemed to play an important part in the small country town. The giant flag back drop was unique and very cool. I can only hope that it no longer hung instead of burning. I am glad I knew the place. Here are a few pics~ Hello LisaC--Thank You for incredible pictures!!! --I am a big fan of your photography--you seem to capture on film what one feels when present so well and in such a uniquely remarkable way- -What a fantastic talent you have in photography!XOXOSue/StarKey

Miteacher posted on the LH.com board that investigators think that the fire was caused by arson. How terribly sad for the community!
