G'day all. Name is Glyndon, a 45 year old male from Queensland's Sunshine Coast. I am Retail Manager for a local hotel, in charge of their 4 bottleshops (liquor stores) and main interests include music, films, wines and sports. Being 45 I grew up with INXS, being a huge fan from the days of Stay Young and Just Keep Walking. Thought that Rockstar was a brilliant show, after having initial concerns when the concept was announced. Despised Marty with a passion for the first couple of weeks, but wanted him to win from about the fourth week on. I think INXS did the right thing going with JD, as his voice was more suited to their older material, which is always going to play a major part of their live shows. I think Marty is the ultimate frontman, has the stage presence that Michael Hutchence possessed and grew more than anyone else throughout the series. Music tastes are diverse, enjoy alot of Australian music, and hope to be introduced to some new music from the regulars on here, just as I may be able to introduce some of you to some great Aussie music. Look forward to many discussions, and the ultimate news, that being, someone confirming Marty and the Lovehammers will be fronting for INXS in Australia in 2006.

I for one would love to be introduced to some great Aussie music. List some artists or songs out if you have the time. You may want to check out in the Off Topic Thread - the one about favorite songs besides those of the Lovehammers. I have diverse tastes also, but when I try to find out about Australian music or movies I'm basically just reading whatever is recommended at Amazon.com - lol - so any help is appreciated. Besides the bigger names I like songs by the Hoodoo Gurus, Paul Kelly, and The Go-Betweens.

G'day Glyndon, Looking forward to your posts on suggestions for good Aussie music. I noticed that wine was also one of your interests. From the posts from the Ausgals it seems to be a great aussie pastime. Wouldn't mind hearing any suggestions on good Aussie wines.
Welcome! Denise

I dont really think that age matters too much here. I grew up on a diet of Simple Minds, INXS, U2, REM, Cold Chisel, Icehouse, Skyhooks, Split Enz, David Bowie, and so on. My tastes are wide and diverse, enjoy Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand as well. Many would look at my CD and LP collection and think I was a teenager again, some would say a grandfather, but I love the music I love, wont change too much, but apprecaite anything modern too, although hip hop and metal are not my cup of tea.

I have to agree here. That is what is so great about music. It can bring people of all ages together. When my daughter was a teenager her music collection included Harry Chapen & Simon and Garfunkle. I have to admit in my 8 track days I had some Barbara Streisand; Simon and Garfunkle; Aretha Franklin; Janis Joplin; Dylan; David Bowie and the Who. More recently (before LH) it was U2, REM, some Greenday songs, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli and some Bruce Springstein. Was not pleased with the rock that was out there. I usually listened to audio books on my drive to work. Now I am so excited about rock music again. Never was so mesmerized since David Bowie. My drive now is all Marty/LHs music (and a little Jordis) Denise

Marty is a great talent, and will buy off Amazon his Murder On My Mind album, and hopefully the single of Trees if/when it gets released over there / here.
Rock music will always be there, and INXS were dance rock in their heyday and I am excited to see them back doing what they do best.

hey aussieglynn, I'm from Brisbane so it's great to see someone else from the same regions around the place. Age on these boards is here, there and everywhere. There is the very young and the older... i'm sure my nanna would love marty if she gave him a good chance instead of just focusing on his teeth. Hope you enjoy your stay.
