Ok, I know this is a difficult question because Marty was so consistent.
I'm curious because everyone else seemed to have their ups and downs but Marty never really had a bad night.
Which performance do you think was his least brilliant?
I'm going to have to say 'You really got me' but I hate to say any of them.

How about when Marty and Jordis joined Mig for BILYW encore? That counts as a performance, doesn't it? The only thing I see wrong with it is... not enough Marty!! ;D

the only one I don't listen to/watch regularly is You Really Got Me Now -- altho' it makes me think of Chicago when I do see/hear it 'cause it's such a Chi-town party song.

I am going to name two songs that are my least favorite performance of Marty and they are: "You Really Got Me Now" and "What I Like About You". Marty did not do bad on these songs as he was always been very consistent and never had a less amazing performance. I just simply could not explain why these two performances aren't my favorite.

I'm sorry Everlong----I just can't pick one that is "least." Marty is just perfect (but if I ever catch him singing Pretty Vegas ).

I would have to say "You Really Got Me" but I think it has more to do with the fact I just don't like the song.

That was exactly what I was thinking (after someone mentioned MiGs song and I started thinking beyond the regular songs). 'Us' wasn't a great song in the first place (to say the least) but Marty has been know to make lemonade out of lemon songs so that wasn't the problem. When Marty sang 'Us' the music was too loud for his softer voice and you could hardly hear him. I'm not even sure he had a solo in it at all. My theory at the time was they expected Marty to get the encore for 'Trees' so they didn't give him much to do for the 'pre-encore' but I'm not so sure about that theory any more.

My least favorite is "You Really Got Me." It was too frenetic, especially when compared to the Kinks' original.

My least favorite Marty performance was US. He is definitely a lead performer only. The rest of Marty's performances rocked my socks off!

I am with Jan.....US did it for me. It was that performance when I decided I didn't want Marty to win. He is a soloist and this looked so corny to me. I thought INXS really looked old after seeing Marty perform with the house band. I was so pleased with the outcome and INXS asking him/LH to open the tour. Couldn't have been a better ending.

I agree with everyone who votes that US was the least fav, but i thought it was cute when Marty and Jordis did the encore with Mig for BILYW. I noticed that it looked like either didn't know the words to the song and Marty looked like he was kinda giggly ...make my heart melt...like budda
I cant really think of a performance I didnt like they all show something different.
I am still listening to Martys performances on my MP3 and yesterday on my way home I was trying real hard to just listen to his voice(instead of singing along and groovin out) just to hear his voice and if mabey I am just biased in my opinion that he is awesome because i think he is hot. well no he has a remarkable instrument .....wow lost train of thought ...ok.. back to earth. Anyway I think i wanted to just point out was that his voice seemed to always be right on and during one of the performances I think it was I, Alone INXS said he sounded pitchy did anyone else catch him ever being pitchy?

I think that my least favorite Marty performance was the US performance, I did not get to hear Marty sing. He had looked so lost and alone, during that performance, that I just wanted to pull him out from my television and give him a big hug.

It was (in my humble opinion) a really lame song (albeit for a very good cause). It felt too much like an American Idol moment. At least they didn't make him dance.

I would say the US performance too. Very AI...pass the cheese please! When I watched this...I thought...what
the heck...why is everyone else showcased here and
Marty looked lost on the stage...(maybe he just
wanted to blend into background here...he most likely
smelled the cheeseness of this whole thing...every
other performance blew a hole out of my back pocket...
(and it was not from gas..lol ..and ripped my heart out)

I thought I would not be posting in this thread until you guys reminded me of the US performance. That is also when I reeeeeally hoped Marty would not win. It would have been such a waste of talent if that was going to be the type of new material he would have to sing in concert. I'm so excited about the new songs/re-recordings Marty and the Lovehammers are going to give us. Now that makes me want to do the happy dance.

I thought Marty was trying to distance himself from "Us" too during the show. I think he wrote "nice sentiment" in his blog and that about sums it up. Really bad song -- not very INXS at all. And definitely not Marty. Still, I don't consider it an MC performance --it was not his call to do this one!

I would also vote for "US". When I rewatch shows I forward thru that song. Don't want to see Marty so embarrassed - which it seemed like he was because he probably thought it was so cheesy.
I agree about I, Alone. I didn't hear any pitch problems, but I'm not an expert. I asked my hubby after INXS made those comments and he said he didn't hear them either.
I have noticed that I don't hear any of Marty's off key notes anymore. I heard them the first few times, but I don't hear them anymore - funny.

Personally, I loved I Alone and was rather upset at INXS's comments. I think the only performance of his I didn't like was the Acoustic version of Trees *scans the sky for lightning* which was a little hokey at times, but other than that I can't think of one I DIDN'T like! Of course, there's this one bit in You Really Got Me that makes my throat hurt just thinking about it. ;D
