The only problem I have with "Kool Aid" or "Kool Aid Drinkers" is that it's referring to mass suicide, right? As in a cult following. It just seems kind of tactless to me. The Kool-Aid commune has a HUGE following! These Marty fans are intelligent and witty. The "kool-aid" reference isn't tactless at all - it's very fitting to the meaning of "I, Alone." Many fans, including myself, found this performance of Marty's phenomenal. So please let's not post negativity about other groups of Marty fans. Different boards saw fans calling themselves different fan names. No matter what we call ourselves, we're Marty fans. (I also also happen to partake in the peachy Kool-Aid!) It's plain Marty love no matter what you call it. Thanks Amy for your kind words. I am also a proud member of the Kool-Aid Commune and it's members are some of the funniest, intelligent and loyal people I have come across noy only on these boards, but in general. The Kool-Aid conotation was referenced back in July on TWoP, well before Trees. It has nothing to do with suicide. It was said to imply that mmmMarty fans will follow him blindly to the ends of the earth. Amy you hit it right on the head w/ the "I, Alone" reference. For example: There were negative comments on the TWoP board at that time about Marty being "pitchy", his "screaming" & the scary conductor, etc. mmmMarty fans didn't waiver we saw his talent and found these things to add to his allure. Basically we didn't care what anyone else had to say. We were/are blown away by his talent and that is all that mattered. We would watch & listen to whatever mmmMarty sang & did. So, we all have different preferences as to what we should be called. Ok, we agree to disagree. There is NO reason to bash fellow fans. Most importantly- We all agree that mmmMarty has this amazing career ahead of him and we've been lucky enough to see the makings of a ROCKSTAR. beantown A proud member of the Kool-Aid Commune & Hammerhead |

Ok, I wasn't bashing anyone. If you're a fan of Marty, you're great in my book. I had been told that "kool aide drinkers" was a reference to cult followers who drank poisoned Kool Aide in a mass suicide, meaning that Kool Aid Drinkers would do *anything* for Marty. I was just stating my opinion on the name, not the people. But, if I was misinformed, then my comments are null. That's all that needed to be said: "No that's not about mass suicide." Sorry, that was what I had been told.
And for the third time, yes, call yourself whatever you want.

Here is my nomination for names that describe Marty fans...... TIRED! As in got no sleep for days during Rock Star , posting on boards and rewatching videos. And sitting in front of computers 4ever to support our guy. I think TIRED pretty well describes a lot of us.
Delighted, charmed, capitivated... but also tired.

"Koolaid Drinker" referring to suicide? That's really not what I think about when I think about Koolaid/Marty/and drinking. Kool aid is a happy thing. Don't let Jim Jones spoil it for you!

No, not mass suicide...cult like adoration. I would follow him to the ends of the earth. I do not say that lightly. I am surprised and disturbed by the intensity of the feelings that the beautiful screamer evokes in me. I am not fighting it though. It feels too good. Oh Just read your subsequent post...all is good then. No need for dissension in the mmmMarty ranks. I also quite like Peachlovers as a name for us. With reference to the theory about the taste of his skin.... |

How about the "Casey Crew"?
I personally don't care what people call me. Within five minutes of speaking to someone Marty Casey always comes up in the conversation. My birthday is Friday and my husband asked my 14 year old daughter what to get me for my birthday and of course she said "Marty Casey would be nice."
