Wow, what a huge box!. *walks around inspecting box* Oh here's a tag. "To Marty from MC.org" What are you putting in the box for Marty's Christmas present?

All of the beautiful things any of us have ever written about Marty . . . for Marty . . . to Marty. Bound up in a leather cover with embossed pages . . . to treasure . . . and the red armband.

I think I would send him several stacks of thick notebook paper and a box of well sharpened pencils, and of course the red arm band wrapped around the pencils. Later

I've come up with something practical - something he'll really need before the upcoming tour....
A gibberish translator! It will be handy when he encounters all the overly excited fans.
For instance:
"Oh, my god. I can't believe....I'm so embarassed right now...do you know how much you freakin' rock!" conveniently translates to - "I really respect you as an artist and I feel that you have so much to offer the music world. So how's the tour going?"

A map of Seattle, in case the Lovehammers have time to explore the city during the tour.
And, wrapped up in an envelope with a note, a guitar pick. I don't play, but a friend(not sure which friend) gave it to me at a local show, and my dad found it in the car right before I left for college. Everytime I see it, I smile and think of those times, and how I fell in love with music right then. I'd like Marty to have it, because he made me remember again.

Bound up in a leather cover with embossed pages . . . to treasure Actually, I'm involved in something over at MiGCentral Forums where we're pretty much doing the same thing. We've set a deadline & a contact point & we're all making little scrapbook pages (as many as you need to make) and sending them to the contact point (who's address you can only get through PM, for safety & whatnot) who is then delivering them to MiG on behalf of all of us. If we could figure out who's all going to the Florida show, we could probably set something up & do this as sort of a belated Christmas gift! As for me, I would probably put in several of my little Marty sketches and a few cute little chibi Martys that I intend to do in the near future (translation: during bio monday).

This is my gift to Mr. Casey: Enclosed Note: Dear Mr. Marty Casey, You have had a wonderful impact on my life. I have truly enjoyed your music and find myself using your songs (both RSINXS and Lovehammers) as the soundtrack to my life. I love your look. You have a style that stands out and says "I don't really care about what I look like." That's very attractive. I have enclosed my gift to you. It is red which seems to be a favorite color of yours. However this was is extralong which suits your height very well. It is also thinner than your others which will look much better (trust me). I have read that your family is very talented, I'm sure one of them can teach you to tie it so that it does not look like it's going to choke you. I worry about that a lot. I wish you the best of success. If you ever wish for fashion advice, I am available for consultations. With heartfelt affection, Dramagirl

I love clothes - and we all know Marty was the best dressed rocker on RS - I would find his favorite clothing store in Chicago and buy him some more clothes - he's going to need it with all those shows coming up!!!

Ok, I thought about this today. I am about to express some real sentiment which is painful for me, so feel free to skip this post.
First, I realize that I will probably never meet Marty. Second, I realize that he will probably never have time to read these posts.
However, I wouldn't want him to be offended by any comments I might have made about his tie. Those ties saw him through some stressful situations.
So, what would I really give Marty on the off chance that I ever had the opportunity to give him a Christmas present. There is nothing I could buy him, I wouldn't know where to start. I read once that he and the band liked hearing how their music affected people, so here are the songs that personally affect me and why.
(Seriously, if you've read this far then you probably want to stop here. I'm not that good at writing what I feel.)
Call of Distress-This was the first song that grabbed me. I have a stressful job, an involved extended family, and lots of church pressure. Sometimes it feels like everything is swirling around me and that I'm there for everyone depends on me but I have no one to depend on. This song expresses those feelings better than anything else.
Low-Life-Insurance-I am expected to be perfect..in actions and in work. Sometimes I just want to chuck it all and do something crazy. This song kind of goes with that mood. It's the philosophy I would like to live by every once in a while.
Sleeper-I get the obvious connection. I don't sleep well. When I lay down, my mind whirls with the events of the day, the events of tomorrow, the stupid things I said/did, and tons of other stuff. On the other hand, this song has come to be my perseverance song. This is the song that I use as my "yes, this is hard..but you can get through it..you don't have a choice..and everything will be ok" anthem. I know it probably wasn't written that way.
Really and truly, I am a happy-go-lucky person. I love laughing and having fun. I'm not at all depressed, it's just that those three songs help when things are rough.
But if I want to giggle I listen to Confusion or Summertime in the City. These songs conjure up the most vivid mental pictures.

I have been saying the exact same thing about Marty's style! He doesn't care about how he looks as long as gets his message across through his performance. He just takes my breath away everytime! I'm about to take on another job in a month's time and between now and then, I've been planning to organise our family photos into DVD's. And, I was... again... thinking of the same thing! LH songs as background music for these episodes in my life! Seems like MC's all over my life right now... but I'm not complaining!!! ;D
