When I got on the computer last night at 9:45--I freaked out b/c I totally forgot about the interview. I had just gotten the kids to bed. I quickly went to fearless radio and it took forever to get the live show to start on my computer. I had to ask my hubby for help!! Then at about 9:52 we were able to hear the show. O.K.--Thank goodness that is all I heard. I was very surprised at the content. I thought oh well they were ending that way and the rest was probably great!! Now I see all of these comments and I'm glad I didn't remember until 9:45 and I am disappointed that is all they discussed. We can all handle a little vulgarity--but 1 hour!!! I think these guys are only a few years younger than I am. I know we all did crazy things in our younger years, but do we need to discuss it in full detail 15-20 years later? ?? Kind of crazy!! Moderators--Please don't apoligize, we all thought it was going to be something different. No big deal--We are all adults and we can handle it!! Still a fan!! p.s.--Thank goodness the kids were in bed:)

Oh my! I'm so glad I didn't hear this "interview." Sounds like it was pretty awful, unfortunately. Reading through all of the posts this morning was pretty sad. I certainly can't say what the guys were thinking, except that hammerheadfl might be correct about them trying to appeal to the 16 - 25 year old male fan base. Either way, this is something I wouldn't want my very talented and intelligent 14 year old daughter to listen to (who is a Lovehammers fan). The objectification of women is nothing new. And judging from other threads on this site, females do a pretty good job at objectifying men. Yes, I think most of us here are having good natured fun, that's all. But it is interesting to think about the "slippery slope" and what separates "just joking around" from other less savory talk. It's kind of like pornography...how can one possibly define it, as it is subjective. But individually, we certainly know it when we see it! Personally, whether a male or female is considered attractive is cultural and changes over time. Expressing that appreciation is only human. The line between what is appropriate and what is not is purely personal. For me, it sounds like the interview went over my personal tolerance level. To Nancy (ndavis 021410) who stated: "Geez, since I'm not that perfect "chick" with great boobs and perfect butt, these guys seem like they should just put a bag over my head and ignore me" --You sound like a woman who would never tolerate such moronic male sentiments. And BRAVO to you! Here are my feelings on the "gotta be a hot chick" crap: Screw that. I'm a 46 year old woman who's body has seen better days. But I'm proud of every stretch mark, wrinkle, and gray hair. My philosophy has always been "if you don't like what you see, then don't touch it." As far as the Lovehammers go, I'm still going to appreciate the music. (CINDY, no apologies needed).

what a messed-up interview. I'm not too much of a prude, but those sex questions and such... was way about their personal stuff that I needed to know or even cared about knowing... if I was a man and was one of the LH guys... being grown men (30's)... I think that I would of just left after the first two idiotic questions were asked, but that is just me. I did like the part of the interview... about the Van Halen album though. JMHO. ETA... No need to apologize Cindy... you didn't have no control over that site/interview/questions that those women? were going to ask/talk about. I'm grown and I had the ability to exit out of that site, but I had hung in there... hoping that the interview would get better. lol

This radio interview was a disappointment on several levels: 1) Marty wasn't there and it was originally presented as if he would be there 2) the quality of the broadcast/cam was poor that it tried one's patience with all the buffering and no webcam and 3) we didn't learn anything about the new CD, the tour or upcoming apperances.
However, I also felt I owed an apology to the fans that I told about tuning in to the show because it was very very adult in content and the mail list goes out to a large fan base that includes families and young people. I received email concerning the inappropriate nature of the subject manner from several concerned fans. This site, email list and message board serve a very broad range of fans.....remember many of them came on as fans of Rock Star: INXS which was a publicly broadcast TV series. We do have more families and young people on our site than on the other LH sites. So I wasn't too surprised, after hearing what I could of the show, that some people email me offended.
I personally don't have a problem with the language and the subject matter.....but I can understand parents or individuals being offended.
However, this is the real world and this is typical for independent radio today. My apology is for not warning folks when I posted the links and announced it in the newsletter that this was independent, no-holds-barred radio and probably not suited for young people. I hurriedly posted links and news on it and should have spent more time researching the nature of the show so that I could have better informed our fan base. I take full responsibility for this error as Amy was tied up Monday night and I handled the newsletter that night. I owed it to the fanbase to have told them what they could have expected, and I feel I let them down.
All of this being said, whether you were offended or amused, it should in no way alter one's appreciation of the band's music or talent. If I allowed some people to be offended by promoting the show and not appropriately warning of the content, then that is what my apology is for.

Well said, Cindy.
Personally, I don't get offended easily. So my dislike of last night's content wasn't due to moral fiber, but the fact that I'd been so excited to hear a live interview with the guys. An interview I was expecting to be informative, funny, interesting, etc. It was pretty shallow, and obviously not meant for die-hard fans who actually have passion for the band, the MUSIC..the Lovehammers as a whole. I'm not trying to get with the guys, so I don't really care what turns them on, etc. It was funny at first, the Q&A...but got old rather quickly.
I'm not disappointed in the LH, though, I just heard TMI! The band will always have my full support. Next time, they should do something like Unplugged or Storytellers. You know, something for the mature fans. Ha.

This sums up my thoughts pretty well. I wanted to hear about the music, their songwriting process, how the guys chose which songs to put on the new CD, etc. I guess we'll get that in other interviews.
An episode of Driven would be good for the guys. You can learn a lot about the performers/bands from the show.

I decided to just watch TV and catch up with this interview later. Seems like it was a good decision.

Well said, Cindy. I think alot of fans were just so surprised about the content and woke up this morning feeling bitter. After reading all the posts here, I think we can just forgive and FORGET. We all want success for the LH and just stay focused on the music and not their private lives.

I was reluctant to listen to the interview in the first place after looking at Fearless Radio's website. I didn't want to hear anything that would taint my feelings for the LHs. When I couldn't access the site right away, I opted out. I'm very glad that I did.

I'm going to have to listen to this interview even if everyone says it's bad--so I can form a proper opinion. I know I can' t get it here but the link is available on the LH board.

I am brand new to this board but I just couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer. I've wanted to post this ever since I saw the Live/Raw DVD and hearing last night's show just did me in...
Like all of you, this summer I stumbled upon Rockstar:INXS. And again like you, I saw that one of the contestants stood out far above the rest - Marty Casey. He seemed to embody a unique combination of creativity, charm, charisma, and sensitivity rare in a “rock star”. He seemed to respect women and hold them in high regard. The more I saw of him on the show and read about him in articles and on his fan sites and even through his own words the more I thought he was quite special. He seems to revere his family - especially his mother and sisters. He seems genuine and laid back. On stage, though, he is this dynamic little firecracker who can’t be held down by anything or anyone. A truly mesmerizing combination.
Up to this point I haven’t seen anything from him, specifically, to counter that impression. However, I recently viewed a friends Live/Raw DVD. I absolutely loved hearing the music and seeing the band perform - they are incredible musicians. But seeing the “Hammerhouse” with Bobby and Dino, and where Marty also lived, just made me feel like these guys adhere to the typical “bad boy musician” syndrome. What happened to artists expressing themselves through their music without having to show bare breasts and women making out to seem cool? There were and are great artists who were able to do that, believe it or not.
And hearing last nights antics just confirmed my impression. I, too, would like to think that Marty is "above this" and "too classy" but he is, after all, best friends with these guys, has grown up and partied with them since he was 14, and lived with them. It would be putting blinders on not to see that he must have taken part in some of this.
Yes, I’ve heard the argument that “boys will be boys”. I don’t buy it. Who says “boys” (who are old enough to be men) have to act like hormonally challenged degenerates? Now I'm sure these guys are nice to their fans and are probably good to the old and less fortunate (one of my measures of humanity). Can the band help it if an eager fan decides to show her enthusiasm in a less than discreet way? Of course not. Do men have to give up their prolific pile of porn? Not at all. All I’m saying is that this group of great musicians not endorse the further degradation of women by showing all the tits and ass on their videos, etc. and avoid stooping to the level of some idealized motley bands stereotypical past.
Not because I believe that it leads men astray or leads to violence against women but because I believe that the band and their music are better than that. They don’t need to be part of yet another image that young girls feel they have to aspire to and that young men think is the norm.
Guys, treat the fans like the intelligent, marvelous women and men they are and show the world what intelligent, marvelous, authentic, grown MEN I’m sure you can be. It’s easy to be a boy but it takes true courage, strength and integrity to be a man.
I do love your music. You are on a powerful path right now. Be the kinds of artists that can set an example of respect for women. Not by standing at a pulpit and preaching but simply by not showing the tastelessness. It’s that simple. Really, it is. Whether you like it or not you are role models. All of us are, really. You can still live your rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle and party till dawn without subjugating women. It isn’t that hard to be cool AND conscientious. Make it about the music and not the sexist sideshow.

Well said, kahlo!
Repeating it!!! Gack! I wasn't able to tune in last night and I certainly won't now that I've read the commentary and heard the post-pj part comments.
I will forgive the "bad boys" but do certainly hope they learn something from this ...

Definitely, well said. I just hope they get better at PR and try to reach everyone, not just a tiny demographic like they seem to be used to from now on.
