Thank you keysunset. I think prayers are needed badly at the moment for them.

I agree, Star and Key. Rockfan, I'll keep Mrs. Greer in my thoughts.
I was talking with Jilly earlier about her niece who has ran into a spot of trouble and isn't doing well in school. I hope she won't mind if I request prayers for her. Her name is Tracy.

I think there may be already a miracle for Tracy. Here in CO. if your kid goes to juvie the parent goes to jail until the child get's their act together. When that hit Tracy that mommy might be going to the big house she hasn't skipped school and is trying to get caught up on her work this week. It all up to the judge Monday. I know that she appreciates all the love and prayers for sure thank you all so much

Jilly,
That's great news! Sometimes it takes something like that (making them realize their actions affect those around them as well...sometimes seriously...when consequences must be shared)...to wake them up, sadly. Evidently we have a seventh or eighth grader who has a probation officer...the officer was called the other day because he skipped classes and left campus for lunch. We have a closed campus, so this is a big no no. The parents here in Arkansas also have to pay huge fines or serve time if the kids miss school frequently.
The kids are CRAZY this week. Someone had written that I was a b*tch on one of the desks in my room in marker...I managed to get it cleaned off...oddly enough it was my worst class that pointed it out...I couldn't help but laugh because they mispelled my name!!! MY NAME! It's above my door, it's on my hall passes, and they STILL mispelled it. I just laughed. Mom said I should have written back something like - "Really? Surely not." and I thought if I had written something back it would have been - "Geez, if you're going to talk about me - at least spell my name correctly!"... ;D
They just don't want to work and I'm making them do it. I also expect them to behave, hence the comment on the desk. I'm going hardcore, no-holds-barred on the sophomores. As God is my witness *striking her best Scarlett O'Hara*...they will be ready to pass the literacy exam as juniors!!!!

Thanks Cheza I tell people/strangers that have called me a B*tch that that name is reserved for close friends and family and I don't see their name in my records!! Did I mention that I was a smarty pants??? ;D Jilly one more day for Tracy no skipping so far this week. Holding my breath till Monday.

Hey everyone, I got an email from Chefs.com yesterday that said the final day of voting for the cooking contest Genie has entered with her recipe "Granny Hazel's Chocloate Cream Pie" will be Jan. 24. Currently, she is seated at number 14 out of the 100 top recipes; however, she must be in the top five to go to the cook-off on Feb. 17 in San Francisco. You can vote up to five times per day. There is a brief registration process. Voting is something I believe we Hammerheads have in our blood (with all the myspace, polls, etc. we take place in on behalf of the LH)...and you would want a fellow Hammerhead to win, wouldn't you? SO, please go to www.chefs.com and vote for Genie's recipe - "Granny Hazel's Chocolate Cream Pie"...five times each day between now and Jan. 24, which is next Wednesday...okay? Peace.

All positive waves coming at you from me Cheza. Relax in the peace and love of the Spirit and let all your worry and fearful thoughts drift away. I don't know what imagery you like best, but I envision being on a warm beach, in the evening, and letting all my worry wash away with the ocean waves.
You are certainly having a rough patch, dear, but God promises to be with you. He will be your strength.
Prayers for you and your classes. - keysunset

Thank you very much, Key. When we used to do visualizations in my college voice class mine was always a meadow with a tire swing or floating on some kind of water. Maybe that's why I like to walk at the lake, but it's been too cold lately...plus my arthritis is acting up a bit. I just have to bear through this. I know He won't give me more than I can handle.

Please add to your thoughts a little guy I know. He is 4 and is going in on Friday for cataract surgery and lens implantation. This is just on one eye. The other eye will have to be done at a future point as well. Prayers and positive thoughts for him and his family are much appreciated.

Here's tonight's update from Sid F'er (he's finished the first round of the combo chemo/radiation ... more to go ...)
"So, yep, they were right, this will suck.
As promised I got my sore throat. Not unlike a typical sore throat - hurts to swallow but still tolerable, seems to get progressively worse during the day. And the part that I'm sure y'all want to hear about - I have several delightful mouth sores. It's kind of like if you've ever burned your tongue or bit the side of your cheek - except multiplied by ten. I have a mouth rinse with lidocaine - the stuff your dentist uses - to help numb my mouth before I eat or drink. Swish that for about 3-5 minutes. Finally gave in today and also started taking the Tylenol 3's. I'm getting about half my calories now from shakes and the rest from soft foods like soup or mac and cheese or pudding. I'm already looking forward to being able to sink my teeth into a burger or sub sandwich again. Suddenly I want to eat everything I can't. Glad I got through the holidays before this started.
Good news is other than that, it's not bad. The rash is still there but not painful or itchy, just freakish. Some dry skin, esp around my neck where the raditation is getting me. Nice collection of gels to help with that. No nausea on my off weeks at home. Also find myself sleeping a lot, which is unusual since I only used to average about 6 hrs a night before all this.
And the best news - I say no chance the tumor will survive this crap. "

Blessings and prayers for Sid and my prayer buddies. Another request on my end...it seems like I'm keeping this thread going of late One of my students, Taylor, is out for knee surgery this week and next. Both of her knees have dislocated recently and she was in a wheelchair for a while. Well, the plan was operate on one knee now, and operate on the other one in April. When the surgeons got her open Tuesday morning, it wasn't what they thought or something - I've heard too many tales from the kids, but they had to "improvise and invent a new surgery"...that I've heard from faculty...and put a screw into her knee. One of my trustworthy, good students (like Taylor) said she had went to see her last night, and added that she was in a lot of pain right now. She also noted how large the incision is. So please pray for Taylor during this time. She's a very sweet girl.

Oh, Cheza, don't apologize. A very wise woman once said to me, "What are we here for, but to love one another!" That's all we're doing here, trying to share the "luuuuurve." Sending a prayer that Taylor is relieved from her pain and fear and is restored to health and wholeness. And to add another, my friend the Chai-rista. She is trying to get promoted to a full professor at the college where she works. The deadline for her to get all the "crap" as she says completed and submitted in the 31st. All this on top of her regular work and normal life is really stressful. So see, Cheza, I'll share the blame on keeping this thread going.

Things are not going so well for this girl. She's only 27 and needs some positive thoughts and prayers. Refer to my first post - reply #81.
WBTV meteorologist Melissa Greer learned this week that the rare form of cancer she's been battling for three months has spread to other organs, including her liver and intestine.
Greer, seven months pregnant, was scheduled to have a Caesarean section Monday to deliver her baby, Connor, followed by a hysterectomy to remove the tumor on her cervix discovered in November during a prenatal examination.
But the operation was scrapped when a scan this week at Blumenthal Cancer Center at Carolinas Medical Center showed that cancer had invaded other parts of her body.
"It's in the bloodstream now," Greer said Friday. "They say they can't cure me. It's been discouraging."
Now, she said, doctors are recommending that another month pass before the baby is delivered and a different regimen of chemotherapy be tried.
Greer, 27, has already undergone three rounds of chemo for the large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma, an aggressive cancer so rare that at any given time only a few dozen people in the country have it.
Greer's family and in-laws are gathering here this weekend, she said.
Her husband, Roger Polsky, said Friday that the unborn Connor continues to do well. He is at about 2 1/2 pounds and developing normally.
Polsky said the couple is considering treatment options, including a possible trip to Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
